    Hi,

I asked this some time ago but maybe I missed the answer:
is the actual UHD display ("UltraSharp™ Display, 17,3", UHD IGZO") usable with a broadband solution (Dell Wireless DW58XX) for LTE (-> does it have the antennas)?
Because the shop still doesn't allow to configure both together in the 7720.

    TIA & regards,
    Alex

I understand that the 4K display is not compatible with broadband antennas - you would need to go with a normal HD screen to have those. That's too bad - it's a gorgeous screen for when you're on the road.

Bummer. Then I'd rather use an external solution for LTE and go with the 4K display.

Funny sidenode: there was a guy in this thread (or the one for 7710) claiming that he had 4K+broadband...

    A customized display resolution - wow. Should be 3840 x 2160, I assume ;-)

No. My bag is too small, so I have to cut some pixels:).
    Thanks for your correction.
At the time when I ordered my 7720, there were 2 UHD options, which was a mistake by Dell. They recognized this, cancelled my order and need nearly a month to reopen the shop for the 7720.
But this is history - I'm now really happy with my 7720 and the 3840 x 2160 UHD display!

    :)

Can you say how long your 7720 runs on battery with your typical usage patterns?

E.g. no external display connected, Optimus activated.

How long does it run with light tasks like reading or writing text and how long with tasks that use the CPU and/or GPU and local storage a lot?

Maybe someone else with the FullHD display could tell their numbers as well?

For my 3.5 year old m6800 with first battery (lost ~30min) I get about 3.5 to 4 hours on light and 1.5 to 2 hours on heavy work (several Visual Studios and VMs running in parallel).

I think my workload is similar to yours, but the battery life is about the same, about 3.5 hrs off the plug, with 50% brightness (91 kwH long life battery). I have the 4K screen and 64GB ECC RAM, and about 6 VMs running and not doing much in the background. This is not the laptop to be too far from a power outlet, that's for sure. Doubtless, HD screens would get better numbers.

I think that there should not be the "k" in the battery capacity. If there is, you should be able to run for a year (and all our problems of storing solar power would be solved).
