    Are you using optimus ? there is something in Windows 10 Graphical settings to force the use of the nvidia card, "high performance".
    If you are on windows 7 try to disable optimus or DDU intel and nvidia drivers then reinstall them and force nvidia card from nvidia control panel to be used in game (if you are still using optimus)

    OK, been researching this a bit. The nVidia 445.75 nvdmi.inf file, for win7/64, has 4 entries for Dell and the 980M (13D7):
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7.05AB.1028% = Section118, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05AB1028
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7.0685.1028% = Section121, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_06851028
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7.0688.1028% = Section121, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_06881028
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7.0708.1028% = Section064, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_07081028

    My inf mod replaced the "05AB" with "15CD" for the M6800, in line 1 above "Section118". As noted drivers loaded OK, but there were some issues. Looking back in this thread at some of Aarons posts about the "Section" content, vis a vi Optimus, I examined the NV flags in "Section118":

    NVAllowHDAudioPreStage = 1
    NVDefaultBPP = 32
    NVDefaultHorizontal = 1400
    NVDefaultVertical = 1050
    NVSupportAnsel = 1
    NVSupportDisplayUpdate = 1
    NVSupportGFExperienceOEM = 1
    NVSupportGFExperienceUDA = 1
    NVSupportPhysx = 1
    NvSupportTelemetry = 1

    Nothing in here about Optimus. So I looked at both Sections 121 and 64. Both have similar NV flag settings, which include Optimus:

    NVAllowHDAudioPreStage = 1
    NVBusUpperFilter = nvpciflt
    NVDefaultBPP = 32
    NVDefaultHorizontal = 1400
    NVDefaultVertical = 1050
    NVOptimusHCloneDisabled = 1
    NVRemoveDisplayPhantoms = 1
    NVSupportAnsel = 1
    NVSupportDisplayUpdate = 1
    NVSupportGFExperienceOEM = 1
    NVSupportGFExperienceUDA = 1
    NVSupportOptimus = 1
    NVSupportPhysx = 1
    NvCleanInstallOnDowngrade = 1
    NvShowEGDowngradeMessage = 1
    NvSupportTelemetry = 1

    So my plan is to mod the section121 line and see if that improves things, then mod the section064 line.

    Don't mod the sections to try to get stuff to work... there is a lot of trickle-down and it can be difficult. The easiest way is to just put in a line that points your device ID to a section that already supports Optimus. For example, just replace your top line with:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7.05AB.1028% = Section121, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_15CD1028

    Thx. That's exactly the plan. When I said "mod the section121 line"...I meant substitute the M6800 (15CD) in the line referencing section121.

    Just to followup. Modified nvdmi.inf per above, the Section121 line, and that fixed the display issues.

    Has anyone had issues with nVidia control panel after an inf mod? In my case it didn't install with the 445.75 drivers and it's apparently only available via microsoft now?

    If you installed DCH version of the drivers then you have to get the control panel from the Microsoft store.

    For those that just installed an M5000M,could you please share what kind of thermal pads did you use?

    Also did you use the special nvidia heatsink?

    Thanks in advance

    Never mind.I just finished to upgrade another M6800 with an M5000M on it.Easy upgrade and fast machine.
    I was wondering why being an HP card with HP Bios,I had only to mod the drivers,not the Bios.

    https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1GryZ7KJDhG6kENQsQcgvOvx4d_BYfbRWGreetings everyone, first thank you for this interesting inspiring forum, you gave me the bravery and the knowledge needed to upgrade my graphic card from the k3100m to the gtx 980m in my m6800.
    But unfortunately things didn't go well with the inf moding, that put me in doubt that the card was not fitting well, so i tried to reconnect it, finally while putting together the machine i think i made an accident either i have not fitted the fingerprint connector well, or the power button connector( i am not sur). But doing so it fried the motherboard, i could smell and, when i open it up i saw the fingerprint connector dameged and the U40 memory underneath the graphic card on the motherboard cooked, now i am worried that that my new graphic card was also dameged although it seems intact.
    Do you have any idea if it was dameged as well???
    Here is a pic of the damaged part: [IMG]

    Hello again everyone, adding to my recent question, now that i need a new motherboard, it seems there are two LVDS varient : one called XWC1M and an other VCHYK, will both of them work with the i7-4800mq cpu and 4 slots of ram????
    Thank you and stay safe
