    hey,

dell just replaced my FX770M with a FX1700M.
after having quite some driver (vista 64bit) i got the card running.
although: the fx1700m runs at 625/800/1250 and produces pretty much the same score as the FX770M in the cinebench opengl test (about 4800)

That sounds about right. Thankfully Dell gave me the 1700M for free, if I'd paid the £300 they wanted for the upgrade I'd be pretty pissed off...

Dell gave me the 1700M for free too (replaced a machine that had a 770M).. And aside from not really having much better performance, it's running WAY hotter than the 770M I had.. I wonder if we can downlock the 1700M to match the 770M

Is the 770 out of stock or something? It's weird they keep replacing em with 1700's while at the same time they don't even have all the drivers for it.
But, use nVidia System Tools for downclocking/overclocking the GPU

any of you guys play Bully Scholarship Edition?
i would think the card could run everything at max, but I find myself having to play it at mid settings.

Why? Do you want your system to run hotter? Because that's pretty much the only difference between the cards. At stock settings the FX 1700 performs a bit better but only because the clocks are set higher, something that can be achieved on the 770 with a touch of a button too so...i'd rather keep the 770

It just nice to know I can get more power from my GPU if I need it. Especially now that CS4 can take advantage of GPU rendering. If it runs hot I will just use a laptop cooler when rendering at home/office and easily under clock it when I am away. Also, not all GPUs always overclock well. But that's just my way of looking at it.

Well the cards are based on the same hardware, just like the P9500 and the T9400 (both 2,53GHz, 6MB L2 Cache) but they use only the best samples to lable them P9500 and the FX 1700. They will use not that much more power than an overclocked FX 770m! Performancewise there will be no difference, but the reliability should be better... after all, I only would go for the FX 1700 if I get it for free :D

I have done some overclocking in the past on my desktop and was able to adjust the voltage of my cpu, gpu, and ram.

If I do receive a 1700M instead of the 770M, can the 1700M be under volted so that is is pulling the 35w that the 770 requires instead of the 50w the 1700 requires? I do realize I will nee to under clock it if I lower the voltage.

If so, can the voltage be controlled in the bios or a third party application? Thanks
