I don't have my E6530 with me today, but I want to order a 500GB maybe 750GB drive as a secondary drive. Does it have the drive caddy inside for the second drive? Any suggestions for a 500GB or 750GB drive? I don't have to have a SSD..

EDIT..whooppssss..I was thinking of our M6600, that has a bay for a 2nd drive, but I think the E6530 requires the optical drive to be removed to make room...

Hi - New to this forum so I'm probably not posting this in the correct place but here goes. Can I upgrade the 1504 wireless adapter to a Intel Centrino one?
    Thanks,

Yes, although it needs to be a "whitelisted" Centrino model -- the easiest way (although a little more expensive) is to get the upgrade directly from Dell -- has to be a half-size card and one of the generation sold with the model (the 6205 or 6300 or 6250, basically.) I have not tried an open-market card in one of these, but did swap the 6300 temporarily out of my old E6420 into the E6530 (which was a loaner from my employer, which got ordered with a Dell card.)

One thing I have always wondered is whether opening up the case voids the warranty.
Does someone have experience with this? I'd like to know what I can and can't touch in order not to get into trouble should I ever need customer support.
Is it, for example, allowed to put in extra hardware, like the aforementioned wireless adapter or a smart card reader?

    Thank you.

Opening up the user-serviceable parts of the case according to the instructions provided by Dell in the service manual to install standard parts does not void the warranty, unless you manage to damage something accidentally. If the standard parts are not Dell-approved ones, make sure to swap in the originals before pursuing warranty service.

Internal mods that are not as simple as swapping standard parts, or visible physical damage will void your warranty. Invisible damage like ESD (static) should, although they're not perfect about checking for it.

    (E6530 - 750 HD, 4GB Ram, i5, Window 7 (32).)

But I am not very much sure if it is the one which suits me. Could somebody please guide me.

I need Laptop for doing office work at home. (Visual Studio, Office, etc)
    I will use it @ 15 hours/day.
I am not much into gaming.
I am not a frequent traveler.
My budget is upto 75,000 (INR).

Other than E6530 which are the alternatives? Does Inspriron Turbo gets heated after few hours?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Pavan

    Hello guys,
I have an E6530 too. My configuration is :

    Core I7 Dualcore 2x2.9Ghz
    8 GB RAM
    Fulll HD Display
    NVS 5200m
500 GB Western Digital Scorpio Black (Buyed a Samsung SSD 840 120GB today)
    etc.

I have few question i cannot answer for myself so i ask you.
I think that the fanspeed of my Laptop is quite noisy.
Its irrelevant wich energy plan ich choose i dont get it to be silent.

Is it possible to manage the fan speed with programs like speedfan or sth. else?
Or is ist possible to choose or built another energy plan to make it more silent?
    How silent are youre systems?

    Now my laft question:
Is it possible for you choose a 1600x900 screen resolution?
I only have full HD and 800x600.

    Greetings,
    Manekken

I upgrade my 6530 to 16GB (Curial 8x2) from the original 4GB (4x1) and it works fine. Paid about $80. I have a 256 SSD drive also. Boot is very fast and applications run smoothly. Very please with the unit, espcially the battery life.
