E6520's most certainly do not have the FN+F2 combination, unfortunately...

My bad, I guess google let me down there.
That's quite a shame. I guess we can only be happy that Dell reintroduced this feature in the 30 series, I certainly hope it is here to stay.

Commenting on the sturdiness, the chassis of the new latitude series, starting from the 20, received some negative criticism on another forum (http://www.ars-technica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1143074). I cannot comment on everything, but coming from a 6510 I'm sad to find the power adapter has changed (for worse), and also dislike the fact that the bottom lid is attached with about 6 screws, making it harder to open.

The power adapter seems a bit weak for a high end CPU, it does get warm

Which one do you have? There are two available, the usual 90W one, and a smaller 65W (also called travel adapter), both can be chosen when ordering your latitude.
I have the 90W adapter and it doesn't get warm or give trouble with my notebook (E6530 i5 and nvidia).
The 65W supply is not recommended as I have read comments from people stating that it is indeed under powered, especially if you spec out on CPU and GPU.

If you do have a 90W supply and it's getting warm maybe you should ask technical support for a replacement, as it could be a faulty power adapter (that might die eventually, or worse, start a fire).

Well, that explains it. It was an outlet E6530, so we got what they sent, the 65 watt. No big deal, we are now using a docking station that came with a 130 watt adapter

    Hello!

Could anyone indicate the version number of the 1920 panel (AUO B156HW02)? V0, V1, V3, V5...?

    Thank you! :)

Acording to the Dell Specs found here Help Me Choose: LCDs | Dell (click on "Compare side-by-side"), the E6530 FHD (1920x1080) display should have 300 nits, 500:1 contrast and 60% colour gamut.

Thats a shame it doesnt have disable charging feature.
When E6530's girlfriend XPS L521x has that feature.
    Even Inspiron has it

This feature saved studio's battery for a long time.

Can I expect a BIOS Update at least??
Is there any way I can enable this feature by updating or downgrading Quickset or Dell Power Meter??

Most of the Latitudes are work laptop ,so dell may have taught that the user don't need to worry since company for ht e new battery ..

I'm fluctuating between new XPS15 and L6530 because of the latitude offer[till 30 Jan n 2012] both costs the almost same in The Netherlands. I love ruggedness than slim show off.

For the 6530 it's not a problem. It has an auto-disable charging feature, which is even better. Just configure it in your BIOS (it's even enabled per default) and never worry about it again.
It might even be possible to change the threshold values from windows with the controlpoint software.

Now if only someone would release linux ACPI kernel drivers to control this feature, like is possible with the thinkpad, this would be truly awesome.

Anyway, in terms of battery conservation the new 30 series is right up there with thinkpads, best you can get.
