    Oh, almost forgot.

Battery life with the 9 cell is simply amazing. At full charge, the battery gives an approximate remaining time of 10 hours, and to be honest, it's probably not far from that. I would say an easy 6h on regular use with wifi on and brightness at more than 50%. I was even able to use the Nvidia 5200 while on battery. The only downside of the bigger battery is that it's physically bigger too! It looks like that: http://www.laptopmag.com/uploadedIm...mages/2008/Reviews/laptops/Dell-e6400_g12.jpg

A question to owners of this laptop:
Does it still have the feature to disable the battery charger?
On the E6510 it was possible to stop charging the battery with the Fn+F2 key combination.
I'm wondering whether it's still there as screenshots didn't show any indication on the F2 key.
Maybe it's still there but is only accessible via BIOS or ControlPoint software? (which would be unfortunate)

    A second question:
Is someone able to compare the 1080p screens of the E6510 and the E6530? I have always liked the screen of the 6510, and now I'm wondering whether it also had the so called "screendoor" effect discussed in this thread.
If they are comparable I can rest assured that it won't bother me too much.

    Hi All,

Found useful review of E6530 equipped with 3720QM CPU. I`ve asked owner to do stress load testing and he kindly agreed. Follow the link below for full story (scroll down to comments). In short, laptop cooling system was not capable to handle the CPU load (note that GPU was idle during the test!).

Does anyone else having quad-core E6530 can confirm similar heat issues under load ?

Just trying to figure out whether it makes sense to take quad-core when long continuous ~100% CPU load is expected. Performance matters for me, but not for the cost of reliability.

Hi Konstantin, I do have an E6530 and I'll try to test it for you this week. Unfortunately I cannot confirm when but I'll do my best to stress test it quickly.

Anyone got a service manual for these yet? I have one coming with the 1080p screen and I'd like to know if it can be replaced by the AUO B156HW01 V4 panel. I'm coming from a Lenovo W520 and will miss the B+RGLED screen. It seems that the swap is possible for the E6520s.

In that case I think there's a very good chance it also works for the 30's.
Swapping displays has become so easy because of the iternal eDP connector, has it not? I have the impression that the housing of both 20 and 30 have the same layout, making components exchangeable between them.

Unfortunately, no manual yet on the official website (Documentation)

How did you determine that the SSD was a Samsung PM830. I have a 6530 256 but there are not markings on the drive.

Please post a link to the availability of a service manual for the e6530. I ordered an e6530, but it arrived damaged. Dell needs to stop using Fedex Super Saver shipping. Overnight shipping provides better handling. I am waiting for a replacement, it has i7-3520M, SSD.

    Hello,

So far I am a happy new owner of E6530 with few questions:
    - since this is a work laptop, it did not come with a backlit keyboard and I am wondering if a going from non-backlit to backlit is as easy as swapping one out for another? If so, can someone please provide me a part number and the best place to buy one?
    - I am not sure if the issue is particular to my unit only, but I noticed that the right palm is squeaky - i check everything to ensure things are all snapped etc. and I noticed that the right bottom area has no screw (by design) while all other corners do - I am wondering if there is anything that could be done to eliminate the squeaking which usually happens when I lift my right hand up back and forth (switching to use mouse back and forth).

    I appreciate any input

There are many S.M.A.R.T. tools which can display the drive model.
    For instance SpeedFan.
