I agree, I also saw similar process.
Ribbon is very delicate and you need to be extra vigilant to replace same.

So one more person with less no. Of screws installed.

For msata use, check the posts by Erblemoof in this topic. He gave it a try. It's officially not supported so perhaps it's a waste of money. Besides that, I assume it's 3gbps. because of the chipset limitations. (2 x 6gbps max).

For usb3, you can search the topic to, as far as I know the cards with NEC chipsets are working fine.

    @truckinguy: thanks, I've noticed
@dr.pratik: you get a big trouble with your keyboard, take a calm down and consider between WIN and Mac OS. Buy a Macbook pro with bootcamp and installing windows OS: FAIL!. I suggest you take a look with HP 8560P or 8560W (be enthusiast with hackintosh).

Not planning to do boot camp.
I read about lesser battery life and related issues.

I will look into those HP laptops you mentioned.

Also I am considering MacBook Air for its portability and far better battery life and overall better build quality.

Any recommended USB 3 express cards known working with latitude ??

    Thanks all for replying.

Well I got a surprise the other day. When I went to awaken the E6520 the screen turned red while booting back and the colors are off. When I plug into an external monitor the colors are fine. So Dell sent a box to ship it back to TX. I hope it get's back in time for my vacation.

I hope that this hasn't already been addressed, but I was unable to find out if the chipset for the e6520 supported Intel's SRT (Smart Response Technology). This might be a better use of the mSata card than a boot drive, if it's possible. I know that the MomentusXT Hybrid drive really improves boot times, so a 32gb cache would be even better, right?

But, like I said, I have no idea if this is even possible. Just wondering if anybody had any info on the matter. Also, if it helps, my e6520 has an i7-2760qm processor with the nVidia graphics.

Update... on my above post of screen turning red. I sent mine in to the Depot Service. It went to 1 Dell Way in TX. They sent it back overnight. I thought this all was reasonable.
They replaced the LCD cover only and the speakers. Everything works good and the workmanship is excellent so far as I can tell. I don't understand why they didn't replace the LCD itself. Maybe the cover was interfering with the LCD???
I would have loved to talk to the tech to see what happened...so I could prepare for the future if need be.

I have this StarTech card, and I also have the Dell USB 3.0 module. I've found the StarTech card isn't much faster than plugging the same USB 3.0 device into a USB 2.0 port. Also, the card has numerous bits of flakiness to it:

    1) sometimes it doesn't recognize a device until I remove / reinsert the card, and sometimes requires a reboot before everything works properly.
    2) If the USB device fits too snugly into the card, when pulling out the USB device, the whole card will come with it.
    3) #2 isn't so bad because sometimes the whole card fits so snugly inside the slot, it's difficult to get it out.

At this point I've given up on the StarTech card and use the Dell module exclusively. It is a pain having to carry the extra module, but it is very light and I have a large bag so I don't notice the extra bulk. I find the module is WAY faster than the card, running at normal USB 3.0 speeds.

I'm not sure why the card would run more slowly, as the slot is effectively just a PCIe slot. Maybe a driver update would make things better, I don't know. I also haven't checked for a while.

One last thing, both setups are annoying because the USB devices stick out the front right-hand side the of the computer, exactly where you'd use a mouse (if you don't like the trackpad or stick, like moi) if you're right-handed.

I'd be interested in hearing the opinions of others.
