their is no accidental damage as certified by dell engineer who visited.

their is absolutely no damage externally and this is just internal metal which is falling apart.

How can we explain this over 9 months of ownership?

Sorry I just saw this post. Yes the XT takes a clone fine all the time that I've done it.

I have recently reinstalled W7 and frequently the laptop is very slow in opening files/folders. I have installed all drivers in the correct order as well as Windows updates. Any advice?

    Many Thanks.

If they are large files then thats typical of win 7. Large I mean 10 gb's ?? or more maybe less too. Seems a common problem. If they are small files under 1 gb then something is wrong. Call Dell and they will walk you thru a proper reinstall. Also I use the newer 750gb Momentus XT now and it made mine very very fast booting, opening files.

Thanks, it applies to all files/folders small or large, I think it has to do with some system settings. Prior to reinstall I had no issues and would like to avoid another Win7 installation.
BTW the machine has a standard WD 500GB HDD.

Hey guys. I want to snag a E6530 from the outlet tonight with a i7-3720QM, and 1080p screen. I have not read up a lot on this series. Anything I should know before ordering?

Failing after sleep is typical to WWAN. Its not related to Latitude only, reason is network based "tech" and because of failing reassign IP-address. And only solution is restart machine...

Ask/look there, its probably "better" place:

I love my E6520. Has taken a beating, has had water spilled on it (hardcore, and this was heaaaaavy water), and it still functions great. The keyboard is super, the screen is great, and it can game respectfully.

But please, IF ANYBODY KNOWS HOW TO SET THE FAN, LET ME KNOW!!! I hate having 88+*C temps because the fan only kicks in when it gets above 80.

    My only issues:

    1. The WWAN has started to take a few second to boot up after sleep. Still boots well, just slower than before.
    2. Crappy audio :(
    3. The battery has 2 latches. When they are pushed out (open), they cannot be pushed back in (closed), so if you accidentally push them while dragging the laptop around, the battery is likely to fall out during regular use.

That said, I have had no issues with it at all. I just wish I could control the fan speed.

Select "cool" (reduced temps level) in the power option settings.
My E6520 (Quad core) runs at 60C when on light use and the fan is always on...but when on heavy use it goes quickly to 80C and the fan does not help keeping the temp down...

it makes using keyboard pain in butt.
    It started after bios update.

    system config.
core i5 2520,8gb ram,120 gb intel ssd plus 500 gb seagate.
    nvidia gfx with optimus enabled.
