Usually, no, but i have never seen RAM overheat (or generate much heat for that matter) unless some crazy dude overclocked it too much. Try HWiNFO32/64, if there is a way to monitor memory temps, that program will show it.

I also agree that overclocking to extreme will have overheating of laptop RAM.
and I never indulged in overclocking.

Today dell engineer visited and replaced broken lcd kit.
he replaced samsung panel with LG phillips panel and quality is better.
when he was doing the job,
He dis assembled it to bare.
only part which is their at point of overheating is smart card reader and RAM is located behind touchpad so RAM is not heat origin.

According to him, its due to heatsync and he is bringing it for replacement.

their were 4 missing screws from keyboard assembly.
    talk of quality control.

I asked him and he did fix those 4 screws.
but I was very unhappy to see 4 FOUR SCREWS MISSING.

now pending parts are heat sync and lcd bracket for left side.

Their are windows 8 drivers posted by dell.
    anyone gave it a shot?

    thanks.

I have come across the DELL Client Configuration Toolkit which apparently should allow BIOS changes but I cannot get to change the battery charging settings (stop charging), did you get any luck?

    Hi all,
After Googling with various permutations of 'how to enable HDMI audio Latitude e6520 nvidia', and reading the many hits generated, I'm hoping to find a solution to allow me to watch videos on a TV (whilst on holiday for a week).
I brought a 3m HDMI cable (but didn't think to grab a 3.5mm audio lead), but while I get 1920x1080 video, I get no audio! :-(
I suspect it's due to this crummy TV (a cheap Hisense HL32V87), which drives only the left channel of my headphones plugged into its 3.5mm socket (which work fine playing my new Xmas CD on my 6520).
I've already checked for updated drivers, and PoPo'd after making the HDMI connections.
    Any suggestions?

    Cheers, DD
p.s., Thanks tijo. I saw that, but of the 4 devices in that list, only (the inbuilt) Speakers were selectable. Digital Audio (HDMI) x2, and a 2nd Speakers option were greyed out. :-(

Strange, the audio feed should go through HDMI as well, check the list of playback devices in Windows and set the HDMI audio out to be the default one. Then launch whatever program you're using to watch your videos.
