I just got my first 6440 fired up today. Another coming at work in a week or so.

I bought a mSATA card, but it was too large to fit in the WWAN slot. Are all mSATA cards the same size, or are there some that are smaller than others?

Hey guys, what does it take for someone to comment on the display?

I can tell you more when I get my work laptop. It will have the HD display. This one I have at home has the lower res display. It is good (decent), but not as nice as the 1440x900 that was in my E6410. With older eyes, I may find that the 1600x900 HD display is too small for me, but I don't think so. I believe it will be the preferred option. We'll see...

    What became of the E6410?
Are they long lived? Worth picking up used?

definitely - I have a 6 year old still going strong. Pick a used one off ebay, replace the fan and keyboard for about 30$ total and you are good to go

I handed it down to my daughter. It's a good unit. I used mine 3.5 years. I trade up when the warranty is close to expiring. It replaced her E6400 which was also still doing well.

Any updates on installing the mSATA? My 6440 should be arriving shortly and I'm hoping to toss in the second drive.
    Thanks!

Won't work. Not unless someone makes a half size mSATA card the size of a WWAN card. I don't know if those exist or not. If they do, let us know!

My E6440 came yesterday. Spent a good 3 hours on the phone with ProSupport trying to get the Intel WiFi card to connect. It was picking up about 6 outside wireless networks and actually connected itself to a couple but would not connect to mine.
I finally figured out on my own that apparently the card wouldn't play well with WEP wireless security. When I reset the router to WPA it connected effortlessly.
That means replacing the outdated WEP only wireless dongles here.

Other than that it's decent so far with the little experimenting I've done. It did a dandy job of tracking down networked devices like printers (and the LCD TV!) to add to it's network devices.

The display doesn't have a great range of viewing angles, but that was expected for not being the cutting edge technology.

Still waiting for the 1920x1080 screen on these to become available....then I'll upgrade my 6430.
