Okay, its released today. Upgraded. Thanks. If anyone is using Bitlocker, make sure you have your Bitlocker key handy after the upgrade.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Got a E6440. It came with 1366x768 40 pins display. Tried to upgrade it to 1600x900 panel - however display appears purple / though graphics does show. Does this mean I'm back to needing an identical res display? (or having to find a different cable?)

    Thanks

Are you sure that it's not a 30pin connection? I always thought that the 1366x768 panels have the 30 pin connection.
I am pretty sure you need the appropriate cable too when you go from 768p to 900p.

Decided to stay with 1366x768. :) I think the cable was different.

Has anyone else used E6440 experienced slight sensation of mild electric current (not so much shock), from the left front edge/through casing? (is this normal / is there any way to fix it?)

    Thanks,

Could be a floating ground on your power line - do you experience this everywhere or just one physical location? If you plug in elsewhere (e.g. school/work instead of home, or vice versa), and it goes away, it could be a wiring issue on that circuit/plug.

I was actually getting that on my precision 7710 one day while travelling and was at a business center of a hotel. And it only happened when plugged in (not on battery power). It was severe enough to be painful to my arms if they contacted the chamfer metal edges that wrap around the base of my laptop. It would start almost immeidately after arms make contact with the base and the irritation would grow increasingly to a sharp burning feeling, but didn't leave a mark on my skin. Was enough to cause me to stop and find a different location to work from, but has not happened again since then and that was about 1 or two months ago. I attribute it to the hotel outlet or surface the laptop was on, hopefully nothing in our laptops is causing it.

Looking to do the same; did you upgrade the heatsink or did you use the existing heatsink? I'm on an all-Intel config, BTW, on an extremely late (basically end of the line) build.

Yup, its the LGD046D panel. Nicer panel than even my U2410 desktop displays, but unfortunately only 6-bit.

Would like to buy a Dell U2718Q, but am not completely sure if 4K can be supported through the dock at 60Hz. Some say yes, some say no.
