I am surprised that Dell isn't getting more aggresive with promotions on the E6430. Especially when comparing configurations to the T430 and T430s are much much cheaper?

I have been watching this machine for several weeks - ready to buy - but so far all the promotions are heading in the wrong direction. The first night I got serious there was a 200 gift card included. The next day it was replaced with a 100 gift card & talking to a sales rep she could not get the previous offer back for me. So, I waited... now the 100 card is gone too and the prices are staying the same...

Any reason to think that some good sales should be coming now that we are in the august back to school time frame?

    Thanks

PS - frankly, I'd likely buy a lenovo if I could - even though I have owned dells for decades. Why they have not gotten lighter, slimmer, or smaller, and yet also hamstring the video cards in the 14" series is beyond me? But I refuse to buy 15" laptops. Just hate em. I have always thought the 14" form factor was much better. I dont know why people like 15 inchers so much.

Unfortunately/Fortunately, I have a substantial gift card already that I recieved as a bonus from a client earlier this year. So, it makes sense to stay with dell. and the E6430 is about the only one that suits my needs. Now I just wish the price would move a bit in the right direction.

Am I crazy to think that some big August discounts should be right around the corner?

HP and Dell regularly accuse lenovo of price dumping. Might be true, we dont know.
Yes, why discount a unit which is out just for a few weeks?

    Hey Oxygen,

I suppose I was just discouraged when I missed the 200 giftcard. I had it saved in my cart, ready to buy when I woke up the next morning, and it had expired. I mean, I get it - it's on me. But, the flat response from customer service... I was kind of blown away. It was like they don't even want to sell these. I mean, I made it perfectly clear I was ready to buy right now & it should be noted that I was referring to the most expensive configuration of the Ship Fast model.

And it was just "I am really sorry, but that deal expired and I can't get it back for you"

Anyway, I like the machine and want one - I just wish the price would come down a bit. Or they would bring back the 200 giftcard...so that I could get the dock included basically.

Thank you also, for my earlier questions that you answered.

Should be no problem; with the 6-cell on my E6530 (i7-3720qm, dual SSDs, and the bigger screen) get about 4 1/2 hours in light use surfing; got the same with the 6-cell (when new) on my E6520 with similar config but smaller screen and slightly higher power consumption older generation processor. Both at about 65% brightness, relatively high.

So with 9 cell should be no problem, I'd expect a little past 6 hours. With the 9-cell on my new E6530, have not run it down, still quite a bit left at the 4-hour mark.

Early estimates on mine (i5 3320m) are 8 - 9 hrs (Dell power profile) web browsing using 50% screen brightness, WiFi, Bluetooth, back-lit keyboard and SSD.

Hi Guys, I have a E6530 (brand new in the box) with the NVS 5200 (1g) graphics card. What games would this be capable of playing? I currently own a Alienware M14x and an HP DV7-7008TX which i find i do not use for gaming anyway. So thinking about selling those two and sticking with the E6530 as it has a nice long warranty and pretty much the same specs as the other two bar the graphics card. Only game i would really play is L4D2, dont want to take the E6530 out of the box to try it if it wont work though. Could anyone advise? Thanks!

I don't know about L4D2, but I play Diablo III on it in high settings without any problem, this is a recent game so I think you should be ok...

Is the E-Module harddrive caddy the same as for the E6420 ?
I need to find one that ships from Europe, and can't find any E6430. but a few for E6420 on Ebay.
