When you get yours, could you please give us some information about the temperatures (idle + CPU stressed + CPU/GPU stressed)? I'm planning on getting a similar config as you but I'm a bit worried about heat and noise with such a powerful CPU + dedicated GPU in a relatively small notebook.

yeah i guess i will give a short review or sth like that. i just checked the ups tracking, it is scheduled to arrive on monday next week.

concerning temperatures i suppose there wont be a big difference to a 6420 with quad core and nvidia gpu, from pictures the body (and therefore cooling and stuff) looks really similar and the tdp of the chips is the same.

A short review would be appreciated! Would be interesting to see a GPU benchmark as well, not much info on the NVS 5200M out there except for Nvidia's spec sheet.

The last latitude that I used for longer than 5 minutes was an E6500 so I have no clue about the E6420's thermal behavior hehe. Is it generally considered to be OK?

    yeah will do.
the E6420s thermal behavior is borderlinish. if running all 4 cores and the gpu on full load it will throttle within 30 mins. but even current games hardly come to this point (benchmarking applications do) check this forum for more infos on this

I have a hard drive media bay that I will move the 750GB hard drive that is coming with the laptop to for storage and I have a Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD that will be put in its place for boot. I also have a 16GB (2X8GB) 1600MHz memory kit that will be going in as soon as I get the laptop. Really looking forward to the new laptop as it seems to be a great balance of power and size. Will be checking back to see what the people that get their laptops first think of it.

By any chance, is there a Diablo 3 player who ordered the machine with the NVS 5200m ? If so, some words on the performance of the machine on that game would be much appreciated!

I still did not get official dell or nividia drivers for the NVS 5200 running, instead i used a modified inf from laptopvideo2go.

i did some testing with some games i reguarly play. Starcraft 2 runs on Ultra, DOTA2, Diablo3 and Left 4 Dead 2 on high. All with fps 30+. Resolution 1920x1200.
