That's right, the antenna is in the lid. Complete care and on site for 3 years here costs $208. The netbook bundle is nice. Makes a great gift for someone with tiny hands.

Did either of you try a clean install? I bought my e6410 and received it 2 days ago, and was talking to tech support for 3 hours yesterday trying to get the issue resolved. come to find out that software isn't covered in the 3 year warranty you get with outlet items... so that was wasted time.

After updating drivers, trying different hotfixes, and nothing working I finally just did a clean install and everything is working great now.

My System I picked up for 613 usd after shipping (outlet):

    -- Latitude E6410 Laptop
-- Genuine Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit Operating System DVD
-- 14.1 inch WXGA LED Laptop Screen
-- Processor: Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.4GHz, 4 Threads,3M cache, turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz)
-- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD
    -- 90W AC Adapter
-- Intel vPro Secure Advanced Hardware Enabled Systems Management
    -- 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
    -- 6 Cell Primary Battery, 60W
-- 250 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
    -- Intel 6200 Wireless-N (2x2) Half Mini-Card
    -- 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Overall after fixing the issue with sleep mode I'm VERY happy and seems like a very solid system - I would note that the onboard graphics is WAY more than I expected and works fine with photoshop and HD movies (i don't really game to much so havn't tried that out)

    Hi,

I'm waiting for my E6410 -I will get it when I start a new job in September. In the meantime, I found this review, which appears to be the first detailed review on line (if I missed one please let me know). For those of you familiar with Notebookcheck, you will be used to the awkward translations from German to English. Nevertheless, it is understandable (their English is certainly better than my German) and a pretty thorough review.
Notebookcheck: Review Dell Latitude E6410 Notebook
Below are the highlights. For those of you concerned about heat -as I was- the review suggests that the E6410 runs pretty cool.

    Pro
    + Solid case
+ Good workmanship and high-quality feel
+ Comprehensive connectivity and user-friendly placement
+ Comprehensive security and communication features
    + Bright, outdoor suitable display
+ Excellent application performance due to SSD
+ Noise and heat emissions within a green field
+ Good battery life, numerous upgrades available
    + Comprehensive individualization options
    Contra
    - Moderate image contrast and viewing angle stability
    - Limited 3D performance
    - High price

I have had my E6410 for a bit over 3 weeks and have done some installing, testing, and using -- mainly with linux (Fedora 13). It came with Windows 7, which I had to reinstall to free most of the space on the 500GB drive. Windows is of not much use to me and I dislike interacting with it intensely. So my report is mainly about use with linux. See:
Linux on my Dell Latitude (Now E6410) Laptop

Warning for linux users: if you want to use the machine with an external monitor or projector it's tricky with linux if you have the latest intel graphics (as on my machine). That's because the linux drivers are still immature/incomplete. In particular, if you try to boot up with a monitor or projector connected it will crash as it goes into graphical mode.

I found I could change the default boot level to level 3 -- text only, then manually start graphics (e.g. using OpenBox window manager), then plug in the monitor and use the lxrandr tool to set screen sizes for laptop and external video device. It is also necessary to unplug the monitor before shutting down (or hibernating: I hardly ever shut down and reboot, only hibernate and resume.).

There are still a few other driver issues to be resolved for linux users, but it is already an eminently usable machine as far as I am concerned.

There's a lot more information on the web page, though still rather messy.

One puzzle: I bought the machine with a 9cell 90wh battery and also bought a spare, for long train or other journeys. When fully charged one of them seems to have a slighly higher capacity than the other as shown in /proc/acpi/battery/Batt0/state, but as soon as I disconnect power one of them immediately drops its rated power a few percent, while the other does not. (As far as I can tell Win7 does not provide access to those numbers: it uses only a graphical display plus warning messages.)

More details on the web site, linked above. I expect more linux reviews on this machine will gradually appear.

Including the mini, it was $2188 less a discount of $520. Those add-ons add up fast.

I also just encountered this problem. Today I wiped the hdd and did a clean
install of Win7 64bit. While I was on my desktop computer preparing the
latest Dell drivers and applications the E6410 went to sleep. When I tried to
wake it the hdd light flashed a few times erratically then the system shut
    off completely.

Is there a chance that the problem will go away when I install the latest
drivers tomorrow ? Currently the system is pure win7 on A03 bios. I hadn't
yet gotten around to looking at Window's power management but I doubt
there's a "die on wakeup" option...

I'd install the drivers first just to make sure. Is the wireless on or off when this happens also? I've seen on other laptops, sometimes the wireless card has issues coming out of sleep. Is this Intel or Dell wireless?
