The quote I posted mentions both the battery slice you mention and a modular bay battery. I'm interested in the latter.

Oops, my bad! I wasn't even aware such a thing existed. Teaches me for not reading properly. ;)

I'd still reckon you'd have order it separately if you can't configure it on the site. Does the Dell quote generator thingy take you to a page where you can select accessories (monitors, printers, bags etc) to go with your order? That'd be the first place I'd look, or perhaps in the dedicated accessories page on their site.

I tried that. Searching the US Dell page for "Latitude E6410 battery" produced only 4 results: the 6-cell primary battery, the 9-cell primary battery, the E6410 laptop and the E6410 ATG laptop. No battery slice, no modular battery... nothing.

Dell's waste reduction program- They put their trash in your laptop!

I did a teardown on my e6410 and the backings for the processor and OS sticker were taped to the underside of the palmrest.

Here's the slice... At least, here's the slice for the E6400 which I presume is applicable to the E6410

I've seen the horrendously priced slice for sale, but not the modular bay battery. I have one in my D series and would like one for my e series. If you find the ordering info, please post it.

Off topic, I did pick up one of those after market modular HD caddies. If you get one, look for the special Dell version. It's the same as the IBM version, but has a fake latch stuck to it.

newmodeus.com sells a good caddy, the latch works. It's a sticky thread in the Vostro/Latitude/Precision subforum.

any idea where to purchase the Latitude On Flash? I acquired an outlet e6410 that did not have this feature, and Dell is not yet offering these as spare parts.

Well that was relatively painless... The Dell tech just left and my system is
back up and running. On one hand I could be unhappy about a new system
that breaks on its first day but on the other I'm pretty impressed by my first
contact with Dell's service. Less than 24 hours between the time I first call
Dell to the machine being fixed. The tech was experienced, friendly and
talked me through everything he did. The lady I talked to at Dell Support
    yesterday was also very helpful.

    Back to my installation.
