I just recieved an E6410 today, was purchased through the outlet as a "previously ordered new" laptop. System identifier showed this particular E6410 with WXGA+ ,however, just like your experience when I booted her up it has 1280X800 display. Granted, this particular display looks really good, and overall the laptop also looks brand new, still I know I am going to lament not having the higher res option.:(

You know, the best part about it is that they seem to have discovered their error, since a vast majority of the refurbished E6410 notebooks in the Outlet now have the WXGA display. Perhaps this just coincides with demand, but I am doubtful, since they only *just* officially added the E6410 and E6510 models to the official Business Outlet page.

The deal just seemed extraordinary, and I lament the fact that it was. You can call them and make a return at their expense. I did that yesterday, and it only take me a matter of half an hour or so. The experience is definitely unfortunate, especially since that 15% Latitude coupon for the Outlet came into fruition, which essentially liquidated their stock of higher end models. Just really poor timing on our part I suppose :/

Well, Dell have come to the party and are replacing my overheating M1530 with one of these.

    Latitude 6410
Core i5 520M (would it be worth offering to pay for a 540M? I don't need any more power than my T9500 currently offers....)
    8gb DDR3
    nVidia graphics
    500gb HDD
    1440x900 screen
    Webcam + microphone

It doesn't say on quotation about a backlit keyboard, though. What does that show up as? I have "Internal Keyboard", but that's it.

On your order, did the order confirmation email say WXGA+ and then when you clicked on order number in the same email, did you have this line item:

    Quantity Item Description
    1 56WF8 MOD,LCD,14.1WX,LED,EDP,AG,LGP

    ?

I just ordered a e6410 on 6/18 from the outlet and it came in on 6/23. I, too, thought that I had ordered a WXGA+ and received a WXGA.

56WF8 is the item number for WXGA, not WXGA+. I am trying to get this resolved right now. My thoughts are that I ordered the WXGA+, so they need to provide the computer with those specs for the price that I paid. And they are telling me to return it and reorder another one. They will say there will be a price difference, but won't say what it is.

I think that they are crazy to think that they are getting more money when the didn't provide what was originally ordered. If I bought a laptop with a 500gb hard drive, I would expect 500gb hard drive. If I received a 250gb, and they wanted to charge me more to receive the 500gb that I ordered, it would be the same thing.

    It is bait and switch.

Ha! I knew it. Like my previous post said, I went through every single E6410 (few hundred) and saw they were all WXGA+, which is when I knew they didn't have that spec correct.

If any of you got one of those cheap $500 E6410's with the WXGA, let me know. I might take it off your hands instead of you having to send it back...

The E6410 here are remarkable laptops, Video performance with the new chipset is quicker. Good build quality, only had one with a slanted HOME key. User did not notice it anyway.

They seem to make a lot of heat with the I5-520M however and I hope the price goes down on the CPUs a bit. We used to get 2.53ghz CPUs on the E6400, compared to the 2.4GHZ I5. Now I supose the I5 is a little more efficent. But it's annoying to see the slower clock speed on the E6410 cost the same as the higher clock speed on the E6400. Probably an apples to oranges comparison however, and I suspect we will be able to move up speed grades as we did with the E6400. We started on the 2.26ghz, went to 2.4ghz and ended on the 2.53ghz.

What is up with the annoying patch bios? I hate having to reboot the machine twice just to patch the bios. Ohh well, at least the new machines have A03. Lets home we can come in lower then the 24 revisions like on the E6400.

A 9000 GHZ CPU can be just as fast as Pentium 3 500MHz. The same way a 1MHz CPU can be faster than your laptop Core i5.
CPU Hz doesn't mean anything. It's the CPU architecture and technologies that plays the role. The MHz term is only used to easily differentiate one process model from another one of the same series. For example Core i5 2.0GHz and Core i5 2.4GHz. Both are from Intel, both are Core i series, and both are the i5 models.

This is why it's CRITICAL to read multiple benchmarks reviews on a CPU before purchasing.

Here is a nice table to simplify your life:
    Notebookcheck: Mobile Processors - Benchmarklist
(You need to understand the benchmark, some, lower the score is better, while other it's the reverse (higher the better). A small Google search will tell you which is which)

As a matter of fact, I did have the same item number and item description. Unfortunately, these descriptions are a bit cryptic unless you know what you are looking for. In the Order Status page, they appear to neglect the dedicated graphics hardware, at least they had done so for me (as well one other member of this forum).

Like I said, they only *just* recently officially added the E6410 an E6510 to the Dell Outlet, meaning that it is now recognized on their main page, as opposed to merely their database. Perhaps this may for the issues some of us have experienced, but nevertheless, it really is unacceptable. In my case, they addressed the issue and paid for the return and arranged a UPS pickup for my convenience. Still, I am disappointed that I will now have to wait to purchase a notebook, since the supposed deal turned out to be falsified.
