I got some suggestions from this thread a while back about the BSOD's I've been seeing every once in a while with my E6410. I checked my temperatures, drivers, etc. and nothing seemed to be out of place. I finally ran the Dell diagnostics at start up and it found several memory errors. "Memory Integrity Test Failed [2000-0123]". I then ran Memtest86+ for over 8 hours and 5 passes, but it found zero errors.

So my question is, is it common for Memtest86 to miss faulty sticks like this, while Dell's own utility can catch them? I upgraded the ram a few months ago 4BG x 2 Mushkin 1333 MHz. Since this machine can only support 1066, could that be creating some stability problems?

I use 2 x 4GB Patriot 1333MHz memory without any issues. I would expect the Dell diagnostics to be more picky and detect compatibility issues, so your new memory may not necessarily be faulty.

Is that a name brand? I've never heard of it before...it's always a good idea to go with a name brand, so if you can still return it, I would do that and get Patriot (I think they're $26 on Amazon, which is a good deal).

Thanks for the quick reply. I think Mushkin is a fairly established company, but I'm not sure about their reputation. It's been over three months now since I purchased it, so I don't think I can return to Newegg. I'll try Mushkin's warranty, perhaps the replacement would work.

    Sleep problem.

I am having major problems with the E6410 not waking up from sleep.Searched this thread, and saw several instances of this problem, but no solutions. Also, on the Dell customer forum, they reported it as a hardware problem:

Latitude E6410 resume from S3 Suspend (on batteries) - Laptop General Hardware Forum - Laptop - Dell Community

My system has the i5, and the Intel graphics. The system goes to sleep fine, but when I tried to wake it up, more often than not, I either get a blank screen with keyboard lit, or a login screen that hangs. Not sure if there is any difference whether it is waken up on batteries on on AC power. I tried disabling speed step in BIOS, and no help there. The MS powercfg -energy tool is no help at all. Have the latest BIOS, and tried several graphics drivers. Running Windows 7 x86 Professional.

I use a SSD, so I don't want to go into hibernation. Has anyone else seen this problem and found a solution? I will try to return it to Dell to have the motherboard replaced if I can't solve this. I also have a Dell 6400 that has no issue at all with sleep.

I've had that problem in the past, but after about two reinstalls I haven't seen it pop up again, though there's a chance I still have it.

Resume from suspend though worked much more than it did not though. Resuming from sleep about twice a day, it only failed about once every two weeks.

When you resume from sleep, is it still running under AC power before and after sleep? The problem seems to be more frequent if the power source was different before and after sleep. For example, battery before sleep, and try to wake up with AC power source.

    Hello to everybody!

These days I am looking to purchase a WWAN 3G modem for my E6410.
I have already used with success the "Option GTM378" 3G modem (7.2 Mbps) and now I am looking for something faster, let's say at 21.6 Mbps.

I have under consideration the "5550" 3G modem (the one that the new Dell Latitude E6420 has) and the "Ericsson F5521gw" 3G modem, both at 21.6 Mbps.
Is any of these modems compatible with the E6410? Do you have any other in mind?

    Thank you in advance!
    Andreas

I've had a few E6410's in my environment with sleep and/or freezing issues. I would suggest the following troubleshooting:

1.) If the machine has a Broadband card, even if you aren't activating it, you need to launch the Dell Mobile Broadband Utility and choose a provider. If the card is not going to be activated I also typically disable the device entries for the card in Device Manager (for the 5620 EV-DO-HSPA card we have there are four entries total found under Modems, Network Adapters, and two entries under Ports)

2.) Disable Hibernation by executing the following from a command line: powercfg -h off

3.) Check BIOS version and make sure you're current.

4.) Check Chipset, Wifi, and Video drivers and make sure they're from Dell and not from Intel or Nvidia directly.

    Hope this helps.
