    Why is the warranty out of question?

    As long as the computer is not stolen, the warranty will follow the notebook until it expires. You have the service code and express service code on the bottom of the computer, you can put the warranty in your name with those two sets of numbers.;)

    Was the original owner from the US? Have you checked out your warranty status at support.dell.com and entering your service tag? Screen flickering could be alot of things (scrunched LVDS cable, defective LVDS cable, defective LCD or defective motherboard).

    Before you go around replacing parts, reseat the display cable (which is actually Embedded DisplayPort, not LVDS). You'll need to remove the LCD panel to get to the connector.

    Documentation

    Test the system before you re-assemble everything. If the problem does not go away, apply pressure on different locations of the cable and see if that makes a difference.

    @Tsunade_Hime

    yes the system still has 900+ days of warranty left on it which i guess i just voided by having it looked at at a computer store. The money i would pay to ship the system back to the U.S plus get it back here plus wait times would simply be too much.

    @Robin24k
    Thats what the guy at the tech shop did but he didnt try anything with the cable he just removed the lcd and reseated.

    He says he feels the problem is the screen but wants me to pay some more money so he can disassemble the system completely and trace the cable to the motherboard to see if that's the problem.
