i dont have anything that can match those small screws beneath the bezel robin. I think in a fit of rage i might just take a knife to the screws. I'm so frustrated

There is no need to pay him. Just remove the bottom panel and in the upper right quadrant there will be the flash drive bay and just to the left of that is the LVDS display cable header secured to the system board (by two fasteners). Since it is secured, I do not think that would be the issue.

Have you tried plugging in an external monitor to see if that works fine? If so, then it is not the video circuit. Have you tried wiggling the LVDS cable while the system is ON to see if you can duplicate the issue?

I would say the primary suspect is the cable [where it gets compressed in the LCD hinge] and the display panel 30-pin connector on the the rear of screen itself would be the secondary suspect.

Scott_RC-TEK, the e6410 is embedded display port (EDP) from what i have read.

The cable that leads to the monitor. Is that the 1 i am supposed to wiggle? and if the problem is the 30 pin connecter...what would i need to fix that, new cable or new lcd?

It may be labeled as an eDP, but it is still a LVDS (low voltage differential signal) physical interface. This is the internal cable going from the system board to the LCD display panel. If you are careful, you can turn the system ON and wiggle this internal cable under the system and/or behind the LCD panel to see if that duplicates the issue. I am sure that is all the repair guy would do in a safe environment.

Regardless, replacing the cable is less than $20 if you can find them outside of Dell and takes about 20 minutes to swap. There is no real need to disassemble the notebook all the way. Replacing the LCD with another Samsung 1440x900 panel would be around $90-$100 additional.

Updated all drivers with Dell Client System Update ja changed to new display Dell U2412M (1920x1200) and now looks like screen refresh is not so good.
When scrolling webpage or moving window, all movements are choppy. Is there some settings that should fix this?

This is with Intel GMA HD and display is connected via DVI

Scott_RC-TEK and others, thank you for your continued help with this.

Any idea where is a good place to get a new LCD for the $90-100 if needed. Besides the obvious ebay and amazon. Also, what is the name of that internal cable, i like to know a lil bit cause sometimes these repair guys try to pull a fast one.

I would question the cable before the LCD, so don't consider replacing the LCD first. Speaking about the LCD, stay away from Samsung panels. The colors are terrible, and I spent a lot of time requesting an AUO panel (which was what my system shipped with). The AUO is best (DP/N DV5J1 or CCXMW), and next is LG Philips (875VK). Samsung is WG407.

The internal cable is an Embedded DisplayPort cable, DP/N 921VJ.

very nice info! Robin24k what i have currently is the LG (875VK) i was able to find all my parts numbers from the dell warranty screen. If it is infact the lcd i need i will try to get an AUO (DV5J1) this time.

So far most of you guys suspect the cable, i really hope it comes out that way.

I am going to ask a silly question.

Is the factory recovery disk for the E6410 the same no matter which E6410 you have?

Yes. In fact, it is the same regardless of model, whether it be an Optiplex or Inspiron.
