Thanks John, that was very informative. I talked with three different people at dell and they each told me a different thing, so I was quite confused.

For for anyone else going through the dell outlet for e4310, here is the difference between the two options based on my sleuthing

    1) "13.3 inch WXGA Anti-Glare Laptop Screen"
Order Description: Module,Liquid Crystal Display,13.3HDF,Wireless Wide Area Network,Silver,E431
    Part #: 588C3

    2) "13.3 inch WXGA(1366x768) Anti-Glare LED w/ Microphone, WWAN Ready, Slate Silver"
Order Description: Module, Liquid Crystal Display, 13.3HDF, Camera, Wireless Wide Area Network, Silver
    Part #:6NWJK

So the difference between 1) and 2) seems to be that 2) has a camera. Both are LED, WXGA(1366x768), matte screen, and wwan compatible.

Yes. Essentially the options are pre-fabricated complete lids, one with webcam and microphone and one without.

Is that in the centre of the top bezel or about 2 inches left of centre? The latter is the ambient light sensor. The best check for the camera is to open up the Dell Webcam Central application and see what you can see. If you have got an unexpected webcam then don't complain.

apparently its a nonfunctional camera. So the display has the lens covering but the camera machinery is not there. So yeah no camera

Had to dig back and rescue the official E4310 thread.

Not seen a lot of discussion about this beast. Here is what I found.

We use this laptop as an ultra portable executive laptop to replace D420/D430 which end their 4 year cycle. We have found that the 16:9 screen is actually a plus in that it reduces the size of the overall laptop.

The only wrinkle is instead of the flat and long 65watt brick supplied with the E4300. It has been replaced with a small generic looking 65 watt non dell badged brick. Not sure if they just had run out of the dell ones or what. I will have to see what the five E4310 we just got has in them.

Does it have a Dell regulatory label on the back? Maybe they forgot to stamp the Dell logo into the plastic...

Will have to look at it again, I tend think I remember seeing a LiteOn label. I need to open one of the 5 we just got in to see what is in those.

I suspect they will got lost when they get turned back into us anyway, then we can just give the next users the 90watt bricks from the stock for the E6400/E6410. The users always somehow never manage to turn back in the travel chargers.

I have been wondering if there is an advantage to using the 90 watt brick because of the new rapid charge feature. My guess is that the 90 watt would charge the battery of a running machine faster than the 65 watt adapter. The 65 is a good bit smaller though. I still really like my E4310. Very dependable and fast for its size.

I have never seen any advantage or disadvantage. Other then the higher wattage brick will always run cooler on a given laptop then a smaller one will, but weigh more.

We image all our laptops (E6410. E6400, E4310. E4300, D630) on the 130 watt E series docks supplies plugged directly into the laptop and they barely get warm with the smaller laptops
