The back lite keyboard can be used of vostro 3460 r vostro 3560,I dont have the model no but both have same size I feel.
If you are in hurry you can buy the laptop,or else wait for Haswell CPU to launch in June that would have much more improvements.

The vostro 3460 has DW 1901 a/b/g/n dont know if it has issues in N model

I put a centrino 6235 card into my Vostro 3460 and it works fine. No reason it shouldn't also work for the 3560.

Asked for the 6235 but was told that its not an option they do and i will have to purchase it from a 3rd party?? Jokers!!
The system is a replacement so its not costing me anything (*fingers crossed*) so ill have to stick with the 1704 and upgrade it myself.
Managed to get the backlit keyboard sorted. :)
    ETA 11/02/2013 :)

It's a completely new order (long story)
    This is the replacement:

    1 Processor : 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3612QM (2.10GHz) ()
1 Display : 15.6" Full High Definition (1080p) LED Display with AntiGlare ()
1 LCD Back Cover : Red WLAN ()
    1 Memory : 8192MB (2 Dimm, 2x4096) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel ()
    1 Hard Drive : 500GB Serial ATA (7.200 Rpm) ()
    1 Optical Drive : 8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability ()
    1 Power Cord : UK 1M D-Series ()
    1 Battery : Primary 6-cell 48W/HR LI-ION ()
    1 Graphics : AMD Radeon HD 7670M 1GB Discrete Graphic Card ()
    1 Daughterboard : WLAN PWA Daughterboard ()
    1 Wireless : Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0+LE ()
    1 Driver : Dell SRV Software 1703/1704 ()
1 Keyboard : Internal UK/Irish Qwerty Chiclet Backlit Keyboard with Multi - touch Touchpad ()

I even suggested paying the extra for the card but was told they only did:

    5DVH7 - Dell 2230
    FXP0D - Dell 1703
    K2GW5 - Dell 1901
    R4GW0 - Dell 1704

So stuck with the 1704, will see how it works with my current setup at home and then may consider upgrading to the 6235. I think the 1703 has bluetooth 3.0 (dells equivalent to 6230) and the 1704 Bluetooth 4.0 (dells equivalent to 6235), but i could be wrong.

Anyhoo.. may change the thermal paste on the heatsink when i get it to something like Prolimatech PK-1 or are users here happy with the vostro 3560's default thermal transfer?

    P.S
Anyone know what is: Daughterboard : WLAN PWA Daughterboard ()

    Hi,
You can install this WLAN K2GW5 - Dell 1901.
DW 1703 operates at 72 Mbps even if bandwidth capability is changed to 40 MHz on router and on WLAN card.

Daughterboard : is the card that is placed on the right side ,on the Daughterboard the WLAN card is installed on it, hope this information helped you.

A friend just picked up a 3560 off the outlet site and she is having some trouble with her internet; it also has the 1704 wireless card. I had her run a speed test on both the laptop and the desktop-it has the hard line to the cable modem. On the Vostro she had a download speed of 0.16 Mbps and upload speed of 0.18 Mbps, ping was at 258ms. The desktop scored: DL 17.71 Mbps, UL 2.26 Mbps, Ping 34ms. She said from the wireless router she is getting anywhere from 11-54 Mbps and the signal strength is at 100% yet she can't play a youtube video with out it stopping every 15 seconds.

I'll be going over tomorrow to have a look at it (like I really know what I'm looking for), does this sound like an issue with 1704 card or her router? From what she said it sounded like the driver was up to date. I'll be taking the girlfriends mac book along with me just to compare.
