    carron,
No it isn't clear. I provided some specifics in my question that you didn't address. (FWIW - there are four "tabs")

    carron,
Thanks for your replies. No disrespect, but if you don't know if there are three or four tabs I don't need to pursue this further.

I had owned this vostro 3560,so I was a bit confused.you just have to push the tabs on top. and release the keyboard.

the second part you mentioned is correct.

It looks like my best approach might be to put a flat-bladed screwdriver down on each side of the dull silver "tab" and pull toward me against the shiny black plastic piece, thus freeing the shiny plastic piece from the tab.

    Hi all,

I need to buy some notebook for on the road/home work.
I am looking at Dell Vostro 3560 and ThinkPad s430.

I like 3560 for its FHD and I like ThinkPad s430 for its "smallnes and quietness".
HD+ is minimal resolution requirement for me (sw development), ofcourse FHD would be better.

What I cannot stand is a "noisy" computer - trying to think and concentrate while fan *whoooosing* for no apparent reason drives me crazy.

I was able to touch and feel s430 and is really quiet, even under load - build quality is also good (except that ugly shiny piano black bezel around the screen).

Unfortunately I am unable to try and touch dell 3560.

I read this (and many other) threads and I see complaints about vostro 3560 build quality (some bad assembling and gaps), but most importantly heat/fan noise. Some even had to call service, had replaced fans, whole computers. I wouldn't like that since waiting for new dell parts/computer here in my country can take long time.

Some of you have used vostro 3560 for over 6 months now - what is the final verdict?
I should say that I don't play games - maybe watch a movie here and there when on the road.
Develope SW / partial video editing.

I rather trade FHD for HD+ if computer is noisy.

    Thanks!

Does anyone know the dell part number for the Backlit keyboard for this?
Also which would be the better option 1704 or 6230 wifi card?

    Thanks

    farenheit,
The intel centrino 6230 is better ,but the DW 1704 has issue like I mentioned before, not aware if the issue is resolved now,u need to tlak to customer who has this laptop with same WLAN card with updated driver.
dell tech would always say its working fine even if it has problem
regarding Backlite , be careful to remove the keyboard as the plastic locking break easily when removing the keyboard.
so you can plan for latitude E5430 if required.

I know that the 1704 supports bluetooth 4.0 and the 6230 bluetooth 3.0.
Im curious to know if dell do the 6235 that supports bluetooth 4.0.
Also, what is the actual part number for the backlit keyboard, the advisor i spoke to stated they dont do the backlit keyboard for this model (and i know he is talking out of his ...) so i thought id give him the part number to prove it :(
