Impressive service from Dell, what size SSD did you put in, did you cfg it as a cache or a second drive?

BTW nearly a month of use, no change in fan noise, thankful for that.

    Hi caaron,

I have not experienced any fan noise that occurs suddenly. I use the laptop 8 hours a day for software development tasks. I do find the fan will get louder during intensive tasks (like compiling code or video editing) but that is expected.

I have not experienced any drops with wifi, I did have some trouble getting on a wifi network at a co-workers house, but i've connected to ~10 other wifi networks ranging from verizon actiontech routers to dlinks, to at&t wifi at starbucks without issue.

I am currently on wifi 3 floors up from a linksys router, seems to stay consistent at 65 Mbps, have not noticed any drops. I find this wifi to be slightly better than what came with my previous HP DV6.

    Hi jlregeim,
Which Wifi card do u use?
The fan noise happens after some time when the system is idle when not runing any apps in the background, the fan will spin to the max most of the users are facing this problem fan spinning ver fast .You can check this by keeping the system for idle or browsing net only you may find this issue

I just discovered this thread. Great info here!

My question is how do you remove the keyboard? The manual shows using a flat-bladed screwdriver on the four tabs above the function keys, but it doesn't provide any details. I tried a few things but couldn't figure out what part was supposed to "give". I stopped before I broke anything.

Also, for those removing the service cover, the screws have retainer clips, they aren't supposed to be fully removed from the cover. You'll also need to slip a screwdriver/scribe underneath the cover near the battery edge and work it around the perimeter to loosen the tabs. Which as the first reviewer stated are difficult to disengage/engage.

    Hi gbguy71,
You need to press the clip upwards and release the keyboard from the palm rest, this are easily broken if no care taken as its cheap plastic.
If you still not let me know.I sahll help u in getting in the system.

Wat about ur fan speed is it noisy at odd timing??
    and wifi speed/signal drops ???

    carron,
Thanks for the reply. I'm still not clear on things. Is the "clip" part of the shiny black plastic piece that surrounds the keys or is it the dull silver "tab" that extends from under the chrome plastic rim around the keyboard?

(It looks like my best approach might be to put a flat-bladed screwdriver down on each side of the dull silver "tab" and pull toward me against the shiny black plastic piece, thus freeing the shiny plastic piece from the tab. Is this correct?)

Regarding the fan and wifi: I don't really notice fan or have I had any significant wifi problems. There is some 2.4GHz interference in my home, so I've played with the router's channel number assignments and bandwidth (I set it at 20MHz).
