You must be psychic? Didn't want to impose by asking for something beyond the typical 90 minute feature. :)

It look like 40% brightness? Great then, another question I now have answered.
I saw a video of this being done with the m6600. Because the hinge would flex past 180 degrees it could work. Nevertheless, it looked clumsy--and I think--not the best use of such a high-end machine. It were an artist, I'd likely prefer a separate touch screen device--but that's up to you.

BTW, have you seen the apps available from within Photoshop and Illustrator?

Still, it's good to know this capability is on your laptop when an all-in-one package is necessary, or in a pinch or if that's why you purchased it in the first place.

40% is also my estimate, it's the default brightness that was on the balanced power plan when i installed windows.

My wife is a photographer, since most of the editing is done on a laptop (mouse), I would like to introduce her to Touch/stylus editing as well incorporate the windows 8 touch features. I was more curious on the sensitivity, if drawing on the screen is effortless.

My interests are VM's/Servers for Business Intelligence software, so I would like to run different environments(VM) at once as well develop my custom arcade emulation software.

Another off topic questions, Due to costs, I am thinking the K4000M for now and then purchase the K5000M when prices drop and upgrade myself; I just want to make sure the cooling (fans/copper heat spreaders) are the same for both videocards, if not, I would like to get the K5000M cooling for the K4000M purchase if thats possible. Any ideas on this would be great.

    THanks!

Well that's out of my league, but I look forward to hearing the answer. I just started learning Photoshop only a month ago. Incidentally, if I recall correctly didn't Dell drop the stylus?

    Another question for the owners.

Ok, so i called Dell to know if i could order the 55W heatsink and the verdict is that i can, but they don't have the part in stock anywhere yet. The rep wasn't able to get a price for me and i will call them back next week to follow up on that.

In the mean time, i got a pm from someone about making a M6700 FAQ which i do believe would be a good idea. I will make a list of everything i know about the M6700 heatsink wise, etc and post it back here (probably tomorrow) and i will look for other info i can find.

Here's a bit of interesting info though for the heatsink parts number:
    CPU 55W: 0YCRV5
    CPU 45W: 0K7VR2

The longer part number has to do with the manufacturer who made the part, the rep only needed the short part #. I will report back with the price if i do manage to get a quote.

    Thanks

Nope, the GPU heatsink is a separate entity and the models are slightly different for nVidia and AMD GPUs.

Ok, so here is a list of data compiled by owners including me. Props to Bokeh for his awesome review

Q: Why is there no IPS option with the firepro?
A: Dell didn't say why, they mentioned at some point in time that they wanted to offer the IPS display with the AMD GPU, but so far it is only available with nVidia

Q: Does the M6700 offer switchable graphics?
A: Switchable graphics are only available with the nVidia quadro GPUs if you do not have the IPS display. Switchable graphics aren't available with either the firepro or the IPS display.

Q: What is the battery life of the M6700?
A: Bokeh's testing puts the battery life at around 4-5 hours with the IPS display and the K5000m, my own testing with the AMD GPU and the 1080p non IPS display, put battery life between 5 and 6 hours with low brightness on the Windows balanced power plan. My testing with DVD playback puts the battery life at 4 hours for DVD playback with a brand new battery. I have no hard numbers for an optimus enabled M6700, but i agree with Bokeh's estimate of 8-10 hours. The slice battery should double overall battery life.

Q: How much RAM can I install?
A: 32GB with a quad core i7, 16GB with a dual core CPU. The two RAM slots under the keyboard are not usable with a dual core processor.

Q: I have a spare Intel 6300, can I install it on my own and order with the stock Dell wireless adapter?
A: Yes, you can install your own wireless adapter as long as it is now a Lenovo or HP specific adapter.

Q: Does the M6700 come with all antennas pre-installed?
A: Yes, mine came with three antennas for the wireless adapter and two for the 3G module even if I ordered it with the Dell wireless adapter and no 3G card.

Q: Are there different heatsinks depending on configuration?
A: Yes, the heatsinks are different between the core i7-3920xm (55W) and the other CPUs (45W or less), same for the GPUs. Here are the parts numbers
    • 45W heatsink: 0K7VR2
    • 55W heatsink: 0YCRV5
    • nVidia heatsink: 08V829
    • AMD heatsink: 09MFH6

Q: What is the model of the non IPS 1080p display?
A: Mine is a LG Philips LP173WF1 according to HWiNFO. It is pretty decent as far as TN panels go.

Q: Got any benchmarks for the M6700?
    A: For the K5000m, see Bokeh's review. M6000 3Dmark scores: http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ision-m6700-owners-thread-23.html#post8832239

Q: How is the onboard audio on the M6700?
A: It's actually pretty decent for 320Kbps MP3s, but you'll want a DAC for audiophile gear and lossless audio. It still manages to drive my Sennheiser HD25-1 II decently enough.

Q: Can i order the bluetooth module after purchasing?
A: Some members have been successful in ordering it afterwards, others not so much. The parts numbers are as follow: 331-8106 Bluetooth Cable, Dell Mobile Precision M6700 and 430-4642 Dell Wireless 380 Bluetooth 4.0 LE Module, Dell Latitude E4/Mobile Precision

If there is anything you'd like added to the post, tell me.

    Great post, thanks.

Has anyone found the part number for the optical bay hard drive caddy? I could use some help from any of you with resourceful reps at Dell.

Well, anyone with said caddy can find the part # on it. Unfortunately, there is no easy swap for the optical like on some thinkpads which i think is a shame. On the T420 for example, you can hotswap the optical for something else.
