Regarding the WWAN card, (never used one), I currently have a data plan right now for my cell, can it be used on the WWAN card? Are you signing up for a new plan thru ATT for example and they will configure the WWAN? I'm assuming thats how it works?

    Thanks!

I wasn't able to configure the WWAN option through the Dell website but I'm told that my M6700 will have the antenna leads in place to allow the upgrade. If not, then I'll post here and return it for a refund. The WWAN card is the same price (minus tax and shipping) whether it comes with the laptop or if it is bought through Dell after the fact.

Last time I tried, a SIM card from a cell phone with a data plan doesn't work with the WWAN cards but that may have changed with the pooled data plans being offered by the big carriers. You'll need to ask your carrier what exactly you need to do. The Gobi 3000 supports AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.

As for me, I have an AT&T SIM card with a dedicated data plan for these sorts of data-only devices that I'll use. Some people find these cards a waste because they'll tether with their cell phone. Many carriers will nail users engaging in tethering on non-tether-enabled plans. It helps to price out the addition of tethering to a current cell phone versus adding a dedicated plan for data.

The other added benefit is the Gobi 3000 provides GPS to the laptop allowing the use of mapping applications whether their is a data plan or not. I've done this on Lenovo systems with the Gobi 3000 but haven't tried it on Dell but it should work.

Thanks for the info... that's what I'm counting on. It was weird that I couldn't configure WWAN with the IPS display even though Bokeh's unit had the leads.

Anyway, things would be less imperfect if Dell could tell me what specific part is backlogged to cause my M6700 to be delayed by a week and rectify their supply issues. I know they were having problems with IPS panel supplies a few weeks ago but I wonder if the new 3x40 series Ivy Bridge processors are a possible culprit now. These chips were announce in the first week of September. We couldn't buy them until the beginning of October. I wonder if anyone has a production unit with one inside.

If anyone gets a 3740QM, 3840QM, or 3940XM equipped M6700 then please post your order date and ship date. I ordered my 3940XM M6700 system on October 1st. The first ship date was October 11 but it has been updated to October 18. *fingers crossed*

I ordered mine (equipped with a 3940XM) on October 2nd and my estimated delivery date is the 15th, but I have strong suspicion that it is not going to make that date.

I see Windows 8 listed as an option, and 6 options for display panels. Looks like the 3 options are just repeated.

Did you ever find the cause or solution to the text issue? I had the same problem. Worked with support several hours changing settings, disabling Premier, etc. and nothing helped.

Same with the video card options... Same options repeated. I see Windows 8 is a $0 upgrade from Windows 7. I wonder if Dell will be putting the Windows 8 sticker on the machines. It's is significant because the sticker requires UEFI Secure Boot to be enabled out of the box.

I just checked Dell Support and only see BIOS A02. Some users have reported having A03 on the forums. I wonder if Dell has done a motherboard revision or just a BIOS update to handle Secure Boot. The former could explain the delays my order is experiencing and the non-existent A03 on the support site. The latter seems more plausible and makes me wonder why we have not seen any new BIOS released.

Maybe someone can call support and ask about A03 and a possible A04.
