That's about the same frequency it happened to me, but you could count on it happening every other day or so. I use ti about the same amount as you, and it sounds like the same problem. I woul dclose the offending program and open it up again, to clear the problem. It happened for me with apps like Chrome,..
For what it's worth, a full day today and so far it has not happened with the new driver.

Not sure if this will help as I do not have the M6700 but the M6600.
The same problem used to happen to me, and I discovered that if I turn off PremierColour and set it to not load on start up, I do not have the problem at all. Hope this fixes your problem. FWIW I am also on 305.93 but had the problem with previous drivers as well.

I'm seeing several other Win8 drivers on the support site including what appears to be an even newer one for NVIDIA (306.14). Time to give them a test drive...

Yes, looks like there are a few more there. The video driver (306.14) is not as new as the one on Windows Update (306.97) so I'm going to skip it but it might work out better for people with the IPS display because I hear NVIDIA's stand-alone drivers don't always play completely well with the premier color application.

They also posted a new driver for the free-fall sensor, which wasn't working in Windows 8 at all before. (Now I just need one for the fingerprint reader and everything will be working...)

    Hi,

    I have a M6700 with a FirePro M6000 and a i5 3320M.

Now I recently started gaming a lot again and I was wondering if I could do anything to increase my performance in games? For example BF3 will run at fullHD on high settings but just hover around 30FPS which is still a bit choppy. I myself think the CPU might be bottlenecking the GPU a bit. \

So next to the question if I can somehow increase my performance I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the CPU?

Yes, it is possible to upgrade the CPU, but for BF3, it'S the GPU that is limiting you more than the CPU. Very few games really benefit from a quad core and BF3 isn't one of them. It can use multiple cores just fine, but it doesn't need a quad core. The GPU is also upgradeable by the way, any Dell Quadro Kxxxxm will be a direct drop in, you could likely use Dell gaming GPUs like the GTX680m as well.

Yes 680m works on M6700 however AMD heatsink is not fully compatible with nvidia heatsink. First the screws need to be replaced or peel off the x-bracket from M6000 and put it on 680m. Second is need extra thick heatpad for the ram and chips in order to get contact with the heatsink surface. I am not too serious on 2nd part and ended up 680m dead after few days.

Switching from K3/4000m to 680m can skip all above problems.

Or you could contact Dell and order the nVidia heatsink (if they have it in stock).

Hi All. New to the forum and new to Dell.

Ordered an M6700 that was supposed to ship early this week. Randomly checked today, and I couldn't bring up the order like I was able to previously (as recently as Saturday).

Dug around Dell's website and finally found a ORDER CANCELLED screen!

I've been waiting two weeks for this machine, and without any notification they cancelled the order? I already received the extra PS I had ordered just fine.

Spent 1/2 hour on the phone with three different people... (my goodness Dell's phone system sucks)... finally was told it was a technical error?? The rep will sort things out with the technical team and rush the unit out asap.

This is my first experience with Dell. I've avoided the "mail-order" style in the past, but the M6700 looks like a good enough machine that I thought I'd try it. Very frustrated to say the least.

Why their system didn't send a notification email when it cancelled itself, I have no idea. I could've been waiting for a week more with no idea.

Why I had to dictate my email address to the rep, rather than him looking up my address in the system is also beyond me.

This machine better be worth it... it'll take a lot to redeem Dell's name to me right now.
