Good to hear. It was a horrendous nightmare with my Dell warranty.
Faulty display flashing; dust in the display; scratched cover, lost SSD, faulty ports. Finding the display was a bear and they ended up replacing the mother board as well. I could write pages of back and forth. My unit ended up being shipped to the service center 3 times before they got it right.
That's what I thought, but they said they could only order and replace the lid assembly.

@Krane On the regular model, it wouldn't be so bad, prying the bezel off and so on. On the covet though, the glass panel is likely glued, still removable, but it is gonna be one heck of a pain to remove. I wouldn't be surprised if that was why Dell said that they could only replace the assembly as in the end, it makes the repair easier and less likely to fail for their techs.

If I recall, some covet user (might have been an m6500 as I follow that thread) had removed his glass overlay and kept it that way. Essentially becoming a non-covet (still cool orange though) with no other implications other than missing the glass. Anyway, that doesn't help you any. I would probably search ebay for cheaper solution (find a cheap display 2nd hand)

Nah, for content creation the display is my bread and butter. In any event, it was already replaced (I posted the broken hinge photo a while back) under warranty so I have no issues. My difficulty was in the getting the service.

the DELL logo does not appears and the display still black.

I forced to turn off the laptop and restarted it, after several times,
the DELL logo appears, then gone, normally it will enters windows,
but this time, this warning appears.
    What's the problem?
    The keyboard still works fine.

I can't output from HDMI resolution higher than 1080p to external monitor, what could be the cause?

    Monitor: Dell P2416D 1440p (2560 X 1440), Display Port + HDMI connection.
    Laptop: M6700 + M5000M
    OS : Win 10

I have tried Display Port to HDMI convertor and direct HDMI connection, both give only 1080p max. Using Display Port to Display Port no problem. Is this M6700 HDMI limitation? It is HDMI 1.4 , even 1.3 standard can output 1440p at 60Hz...

I have received a company laptop Latitude 3570, using the same HDMI cable, it is able to connect at 1440p without single issue.
Since I have 2 laptops, i wish to control them using my old Aten CS1794 KVM. The Latitude works without issue, but M6700 doesn't work even without KVM. The Latitude has no Display Port, and Display Port KVM is very expensive now. Display Port to HDMI converting is easy; but HDMI to Display Port converter is extremely rare to find, and resolution is uncertain.

I tried both bios A15 and A16 without success. Try using Intel HD 4000 on board graphic no output at all from HDMI with latest driver .

I have another monitor Acer XB271HU at home also 1440p with Display Port & HDMI not yet tried, but i don't think it will work too.

Never tried anything higher than 1080p myself, but I can comment on a few things:

    * Latitude 3570 is a few generations newer so I'm not surprised that it works, it probably has HDMI 2.0.
    * The HDMI port in this model is connected only to the dGPU, you cannot use it with only the Intel GPU.
    * You could try using DP->HDMI dongle/adapter that is active and supports HDMI 2.0 output (example) for best chance of success.

I know HDMI 1.4 is *supposed* to work with 1440p, so can't speculate as to why its not. I have seen confirmation of people getting 4K over HDMI (30 Hz only) so the machine can certainly do higher than 1080p.
