    Do all the M6700's come with 4 DDR3 slots and 2 SATA(3) slots ???
Crucial.com shows 2 M6700 entries, one for (2 SODIMMs) and one for (4SODIMMs) which makes me wonder.

I want to make sure I can add my own stuffing options versus paying Dell's outrageous inflated prices for standard options.

    Examples:
    Dell 32GB 1600 Memory $791, Crucial $156 - (Dell 5X more expensive)
    Dell 512GB 2.5" (SATA3) $1,350, NewEgg Intel 520 Series (SATA3) 480GB $500 - (Dell 3X more expensive)

How can Dell ask these ridiculous prices in this economy?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have a dual-core CPU you can only use two memory slots.
If you have a quad-core CPU you can use four memory slots.
Either way, there are four memory slots in the system.

Dell always charges way more for memory (especially the top options). It's actually not just Dell, many manufacturers seem to do it. Just buy the memory separately and upgrade it yourself.

Thanks for the quick response and clarification. I am targeting the i7-3920XM QuadCore so I should be good for the 4 SODIMMs.

I have stuffed my own memory and hard drives in the past when Dell's pricing gets out of line. I am also considering doing this with the BluRay drive this time as well.

Also wish the PMW's still offered 1920x1200 displays for development versus just 1080p for movies.

I tried installing these drivers on Windows 8.

The installer didn't give me any trouble.

However, after reboot, the screen was washed-out white. Like someone set the contrast or gamma way too high. I poked around in the NVIDIA control panel and couldn't find a quick fix. Tried installing again with the "clean install" option, same results. Went back to 305.93, problem is gone.

Dells prices aren't outrageous. They're comparably prices to the industry. Nobody starts a company so the won't make money. And if they're not making a profit, they won't build a product at all.

Nevertheless, if you really want inflated, look to Apple. There you get two choices: the ones they provide, or the highway.

Oooh, well aren't we special. Looks like Windows will soon have to raise the bar lest you get too high and mighty. :p

Actually in Windows 8 the max score has been bumped up to 9.9. Not quite good enough to break the Windows 7 max. :p

Huh. Did you have to do something special such as throttlestop to get those scores? With my M4700, the 3820QM & 1600Mhz RAM I got CPU: 7.7 RAM: 7.8. With 1866Mhz RAM I got CPU: 7.7 RAM: 7.9
