I can't imagine that there would be AG coating between the LCD & the glass as it would only reduce the output and there would still be glare from the glass making it the worst of both worlds. I suppose however stranger things have happened. :D

    2. You can enable RAID later, no problem.

    3. No. You can only use the Intel GPU in an Optimus configuration (with an NVIDIA card and no IPS screen).

    4. It's a Panasonic/Matshi-ta UJ-252. I bought mine separately, it came with a bezel that fits. You can also steal the bezel that comes on the plain old tray-loading DVD drive.

    6. Not sure. Earlier this week I was wondering if there was a GPS module that would fit in this slot. Some Googling found some candidates but I couldn't find much information about software/driver support so I haven't purchased one yet. There's not much else to use this slot for.

Do the Dell batteries still come with that neat external charge status indicator LEDs?

Thanks for the answers. My CSR found the part number for the optical bay hard drive caddy (331-3079). I'm hoping that is correct.

Anyway, I have a telephone quote for a fully loaded system (Core i7-3920XM, K5000M, IPS, Ultimate-N 5300, FIPS, Bluetooth, 3 years Pro Support, etc) for $5,117.93 out the door (includes tax, shipping, etc). This is a discount between $600 (based on current deals via the website) and $1200 (based on the retail price on the website that Dell never charges). I might wait for a coupon and the Core i7-3940XM processor before purchasing the system. Has anyone done better in the discount department?

    ------ EDIT -----

331-3079 is not the optical bay hard drive caddy. It is the external e/module that connects via esata. I had to send mine back for a refund.

I got a quote, and put in an order today for a system with: Core i7-3720, K3000M, IPS, Ultimate-N 6300, FIPS Bluetooth, Back-lit Keyboard and USB 3.0 Docking Station. With free shipping & before tax, the retail Dell price was $3575 with a discounted Internet price of $3225.

They worked a phone quote for me of $2343 with Free Shipping & before Tax.

So $882 / 27% off the discounted price or $1232 / 35% off the retail price.

I figured I'd jump at it since that was fairly close to the biggest discount outside one of those mystery 40% coupons someone was talking about off the retail price.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the UJ-252 blu-ray drive from? I noticed a few on eBay for around $150 but they are sellers in China and Hong Kong. Any sellers in the US have these yet? I also noticed there is a newer UJ-262 model as well.

    All info is truly appreciated!

That's all I've found too. If you don't mind an external make-your-own solution then the 12.7mm high UJ260 has all the same features of the UJ262 and it is going for $99 from a site I've ordered form before. You might want to email them and ask if they can get the 9.5mm UJ262.

    That's where I got mine. :p

    This one: New UJ252 UJ-252 UJ252A UJ-252A DELL SONY Blu-ray 9.5mm burner player drive BD-R | eBay

Came with its own bezel, looks fine installed except the color doesn't match perfectly.

Also worth noting: PowerDVD gives an error that my drive can't be authenticated when trying to play a retail Blu-ray movie. Don't know if I have to do something before it works or if it's because there's something sketchy about this drive. Anyway, I have a copy of AnyDVD HD and that allows Blu-ray movies to be played.

Do I want to install the "Dell Feature Enhancement Pack"?

On one hand, it seems to contain a few items of occasional usefulness, such as a battery health display, on-screen displays for volume/brightness adjustment, and a way to configure the keyboard backlight from Windows instead of the BIOS. On the other hand, the "Smart Settings" and "Touch Palette" apps just seem like cruft.

Do the Dell power plans actually help? They seem to add the ability to control a few more things, like fan levels.
