Most common cause we see is a Bluetooth device being allowed to wake a machine up.

In a sense that is a bummer, but a SSD is a SSD no matter the SATA version. Anyways, my main drive will be in the removable caddy for when i need to take my laptop to places where they require me to hand over the laptop so they can scan the drive before i can get in (ill have to remove the other drives before hand though).

    Thanks and + rep.

I'm in the process of ordering mine.

    EDIT:

    It's on order

    i7-3720qm
    Ultrasharp 1080p
    M6000
    Bluetooth
    The rest stock.

I'll add SSDs, RAM and an Intel 6300 myself. I already have a 240GB Mushkin Chronos Deluxe gathering dust right now so i guess i'll go with that one and i'll add a 256GB mSATA m4 most likely too, i also have a spare 6300 on hand. :D I gotta order me some RAM though, i'm thinking 2x2GB to start with. Anyone know if certain slots have to be populated first in order for the laptop to boot?

I was told by tech support that it is the same heatsink for all CPUs (specifically asked them for i7-3920xm vs the rest). I will however check when i have the machine with me, ETA is for october 4th.

Forgot to add, i ordered mine with the French (qwerty) backlit keyboard, got told it had the labels for both French Canadian and English US on it, will see when it arrives. It likely has them though, every notebook i bought with the French Canadian layout had the labels for both on it.

I was also impressed by how courteous and helpful their staff was over the phone, very good change from Asus (the current Asus, not the old one).

I already have some crazy ideas for my M6700 (if i have the money for it). I'll look into ordering a second chassis and have it custom painted, i don't know if i'll do it, but i'll definitely look into whether it's feasible or not.

Can anyone confirm whether Optimus works in Windows 8 with the 305.93 desktop drivers? Aaron44126?

I want to install Windows 8, but not if I lose Optimus.

Is there any reason why the M6700 is not offered with the Intel HD 4000 graphics (no discrete graphics card)???

I have a i7-3770S driving a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 and its office performance is quite respectable.

Dual headed performance at 2560x1600 and 1920x1200 was also decent.

The WEI numbers for graphics were both 6.6.

I need CPU and memory first with "decent" graphics second.

One would think battery life would be better using the Intel HD 4000 graphics.

The M6700 is targeted for power users who need both the CPU and GPU performance. Given the market segment, it's not surprising.

When I first tried to use Optimus on Win8 I was greeted with a BSOD that wouldn't go away until I turned Optimus off in the BIOS. (This was with the Dell NVIDIA drivers and the stock Windows 8 Intel drivers.) So, I haven't tried to turn it back on yet; waiting for proper Windows 8 drivers from both Intel and NVIDIA before I try again.

    Side note —
New Intel Rapid Storage Technology release, version 11.6. Official Windows 8 support. (Haven't installed yet.)
