Any news on ordering it from he Canadian website? I think it's kind of silly that the laptop is advertised on the site in a news press article, but no option to buy it.

Just ordered one with a 256gb msata+500GB hHDD over the phone here in Germany.
(will replace the 500GB with a larger SSD)
It didn't show up on the website with that configuration.

Also, clearly says Windows 8.1 in the order.

Suppose the (smaller) 6-cell battery was included, would the above configuration allow me to add a 2.5" HDD/SSD by myself? That is, would there be an unpopulated SATA III slot next to the battery?

If that's the case, I won't have to do this:

I think I'm going to wait around for more first impressions and hopefully some more configurability.

I'm hoping for a configuration with just a 256gb msata, the larger battery and 8gb of ram. The other thing I have to hope for is for someone to release a 512gb msata consumer drive. I don't want to buy the samsung because they will only warranty it through an OEM.

That way, I'll hopefully be able to save some money by upgrading the ram and SSD myself. I may be waiting a while though.

I just checked Premier and there is a "Build Your Own – Customizable" option as well as the other 3 "Preconfigured with Standard Lead Time" options.

You need to make sure your order includes the following item:
Hard Disk Drive Bracket with Cable for Mobile Precision M3800

Nice! So, what are the customization options?

I saw that bracket listed on my dual-drive order, so I figured it wouldn't be automatically included with mSATA-only models. But you should double-check it with a Dell sales rep.

Seriously, what is up with this pre-configured crap? In a $2000 machine, you can't choose what you want? You either get the worst of everything or if you want one upgraded option, you get like $600 worth of upgrades you don't want. I keep trying to like Dell, but they keep pulling me back to hatred.
