Estimated ship date for me is Dec 5th. I agree about the discount price gimmick. Mine was $1000 off of $3500. Only women fall for that when they buy shoes.

It's meant as a professional workstation, not a toy. That means it will come with Windows 7 by default, just like all the other Precision machines. Windows 8.x is not "necessary" for anything. Maybe when Microsoft offers a new OS that offers the productivity of Windows 7, that will change, but this is where we are right now.

If it comes with win7 default then i will buy one today without hesitating. But every page on dell says win8.1.

Bokeh, which version of win did your had out of the box?

Ok, speaking of a "professional workstation", I do not need a touchscreen but a matte-display!
Odd idea of "professional" by delivering a glossy screen only!!

BTW: In germany the m3800 is delivered with Win8-Pro (according to the DELL shop).

Idk if I'd ever use touch but in case I do, I want 8.1. It's the only MS OS built for touch - albeit at the expense of the rest of the experience.

Interesting. Well, I just repeated what I was told by our rep, but who knows.
If it's Win8.x only, then I'm not interested, period.

Is the 30% discount only on the first day? From what I see on dell.de, the discount is valid until sometime in February.2014.
By the way, I guess this 30% discount cannot be added with a 10% VIP discount, right?

I'm aware of what the page says - the M4800 page says the same thing, and we know Optimus isn't an option there.
