Stock clocks are lower in the K1100M.

The K1100M will run at the same CPU/VRAM speeds as the 750M if you want it to.

 

In laptops, both clocks as listed there are specific to the individual implementing motherboards... and can and will vary by the firmware/driver (and potentially any tweaking by the end user.) I'm not sure if GPUDB is just publishing reference specs, or if it's based on the first to report with GPU-Z.

An actual check with GPU-Z on the M3800 specifically would be helpful; our Dell rep is going to get us a couple of hours with one early next week and I'll see if I can post them. Alternatively, @Bokeh could run it for us

No actual XPS 15 reviews out there that I'm aware of, but in a thin-and-light they might be downclocking the 750M a bit.

 

I'm starting to warm up to the M3800... Quick question: Since I will not buy a Win8.x machine, is there any reason not to get an M3800 with Windows 7? I know that Microsoft has added some minor gimmicks for Win8.x to address scaling on high-res displays, but my recollection is that this is non-essential. Fundamentally, scaling on Microsoft Windows has the same issues on Win8.x that it has on Win7. Is this correct?

 

Yes, the main thing they added was the ability to have different scaling ratios between different displays if you are using multiple displays. For single-display use it will be pretty much the same. How well the scaling will work mostly depends on which apps you use, and you can test that now by just changing the DPI setting in your current installation.

Can you compare the m3800's power brick with the rMBP brick, or with anything, so as to give us an idea how big it is?

Just because you can make it look the same as win7 and get the benefits of features and performance doesn't mean there can't be blind hatred and suspicion. :sly:
