Converting UEFI->legacy is even harder than converting legacy->UEFI. It will be easiest to do a new install from scratch.

There isn't much benefit to using UEFI unless you are using Windows 8 or later (for UEFI secure boot, UEFI fast boot, and more seamless boot experience).

I have my 5510 running with the eDock (3100) but what ticks me off is that there is no pass-through charging so I need two charging cable, one for the eDock and the other for the Laptop, which sucks.

If anyone is using the new Thunderbolt dock TB15, can you share if it also needs a separate power cable for the laptop or if you can charge the laptop using the TB cable/interface

I don't have one but this was answered earlier by Dell-Mano_G. The Thunderbolt dock can power/charge the 5510, but not the 7510 or 7710 (they require more power than can be sent over the Thunderbolt cable), so you should only need one connector.

It will power it - just make sure you get the 240W version.

For what its worth, I would wait. Even with all the latest drivers, many continue to report problems with the TB15 (overheating, USB-drops, network drops). I myself continue to experience USB wireless mouse disconnects and display drops. Dell has said they are continuing to work the drivers to resolve. Having an extra cable seems like a nice problem to have vs the current TB15.

    Thanks, this helps.

Actually I have maxed out on electrical connectors on the UPS/Wall outlets around my desk and dont want to daisy chain any additional power strips or another UPS. Right now I am sharging the 5510 and then using the dock (with dual monitors) which is a pain.

No easy way out of this.... chance the TB15 with its buggy firmware and hope Dell resolves soon or continue to use the 3100, charging separately....... :(

BTW I am running multiple systems through a 4-port, dual monitor KVM (VGA-1900X1200, I know ) so only connectivity I need on the dock is the wired LAN and wireless KB/mouse. So far the 3100 has been rock solid, no issues.

A question for the people who use the 5510 mostly on the desk as a desktop replacement machine.

Do you leave the charger connected all the time? if so, aren't you worried about the ear and tear of the battery in doing so?

I am personally using the Dell Command Power Manager and have set the Battery setting to Adaptive under the Battery Information section since I use my machine both on the go and also when ever I get to be in my room as a desktop replacement machine

AFAIK, the batteries are not charged once they reach full charge so it shoudln't be an issue. Batteriies are rated based on no charge/recharge cycles and for longevity, try to recharge only when battery charge follows below a certain threshold say 10%

I always set the max charge to 90% and then 60% to start charging. Obviously, this will depend on your needs but always keeping the battery at max charge is hard on the battery.
