Congratulations on your new laptop, John Ratsey!
How do you find the keyboard? Have you typed on a ThinkPad or a D series Latitude to compare them? They claim that they have improved it a lot form the D series. I own a Latitude D520 and while the keyboard is much better than average and is with almost no flex, I still think that as a key travel, feedback and overall comfort of typing it is not even close to the ones in the Thinkpads. What do you think?

So, you received your E6400 also? :)

I'm also almost set to get the E6400, just finalizing pricing quotes with our local distributors...

The class leader is the Fujitsu S65x0 series which claims 4.1 lbs.

I haven't done any serious typing on the keyboard yet and I don't have either a previous generation Latitude or a Thinkpad in my house to compare it with.

That could be next week, but keep your eyes open for a "First Look" (if I can keep away from the forum).

    John

PS: The First Look is here.

About the weight - it seems that you can not have both the robustness of the construction from one side and the light weight from the other at the same time..everybody likes when the case is made of metal instead of plastic and when everything fells solid. From other point everybody wants his laptop to be light. Me too,of course. But solid and light...I don't know....unless it is made of titan or carbon...If it was made lighter I am sure that the quality of the construction wouldn't be the same.loosing weight usually mean loosing some solidity...The robust, solid and durable machines usually weight! I really hope that this is the case with the new E Latitudes...
by the way-thanks for the nice preview,John! looking forward to the full one...
