Sorry I just saw your question. I've long since returned the laptop so I can't tell you unfortunately. Went with a MateBook X Pro and sure enough, the cheaper Chinese Apple knockoff is perfect compared to several "premium" Latitudes and ThinkPads I got that were defective.

What battery charging mode do you use:
    - Adaptive
    - Standard
    - ExpressCharge
    - Primarily AC use
    - Custom .....(what values?)
Which one, in your opinion, is the best for a battery?
Which one you recommend for a longer battery life so that the battery will last a long time and keep it in place?

How often / how long do you use the battery?

My 5510 currently spends most of its time plugged into the mains so I use Custom with start charging at 75%, stop charging at 85%. As I have have a 9 cell battery this will give me a lot of run time without mains power should the need arise but I'm avoiding the top 15% of the charge range which contributes significantly to the battery wear. Depleting below about 20% is also another significant contributer to the wear. Fast charging (which generates more heat) is a further contributor to the wear so Express charging is best avoided unless there's only a small time window available to put a lot of charge into the battery.

Pressing the ? help icon on the Dell Power Manager Battery Settings screen links to this web page. It says:
"Adaptive — Automatically optimizes battery settings based on the user’s typical patterns. Recommended for users who want to “set it and forget it.”

How well that works for individual users is likely to depend on whether their usage pattern is consistent.

Just curious, how many of the 7490 owners have been affected by the chip frying on the mainboard?

I read that some people reported this issue with 7390 and 7480(?), wondering about 7490.

Received a 7490 a few days ago from Outlet.

    Few build quality issues
    1. Bezel to the right of webcam when squeezing together makes a clicking sound. It's almost like the bezel is pushing against the back cover.
    2. Screen hinge cracks a bit when opening and closing.
    3. Delete key, down arrow and right arrow are a bit loud and "sticky".

Screen looks fine to me. No low brightness flicker. I've got the 1080p Non Touch.
Very quiet. Fan is very rarely heard. Although I am just web browsing currently.
There is some coil whine, but it is very quiet. Much better than 7480 I had previously.

I bought a 7490 refurb from a third-party seller in Amazon but unfortunately had to return it due to blue screen issue. Also it had a coil whine problem.
