    Hello Mike60,

Congratulations on your purchase. Hope it will serve you well. Regarding your questions, Intel 6200 AGN should work just fine except that if it's not a Dell branded then WiFi LED might blink when transmitting data.

Here you can find "The Undervolting guide", quite interesting reading. You might also want to check ThrottleStop guide. Keep in mind that 45nm Penryns like T8xxx and T9xxx switch to C3/C4 states when idle so the only undervolting benefit would be lower power consumptions when fully loaded.

If I'm not mistaken then Dell Wireless 5620 is just rebranded Qualcomm Gobi 2000. Its drivers you can find on Dell support site.

    Good luck.

P.S. Merry Christmas to you too.

The 6200AGN is a half-height card. It's still mini-PCIe, but you'll need to find a way to secure the card. Since you already have a 4965, I wouldn't recommend upgrading anyways.

Which fan is the new one? My D630 came with the one with the straight blades, and it was fairly noise. I swapped the fan out with the one in my D620, which had the curved blades (I call it the GE90 fan, after the 777-300ER's GE90-115B engines).

Yup, the straight blade fan was certainly louder than the fan in my D620. It was loud enough to warrant two full system disassemblies (the fan goes under the motherboard)...

    I haven't seen any full-height 6200's. They are half-height, which won't screw down in the D630.

    On another nb I install 6200 ( halfsize ).
Not nice but it is working.
It is possible to install without black screw in to D630.

Again, I fail to see any reason to upgrade the 4965 to 6200...

Anyone performed the copper shim mod on the D630? My Nvidia GPU idles around 62c or so and I would feel more comfortable if it get it down perhaps in the mid 50's or lower. I would probably use OCZ Freeze paste on both sides of the shim and on the cpu. I assume I just need to shim the GPU or does the CPU need the shim as well?

    Ideas on copper thickness?

I did it once -- almost no difference (at least when idle). YMMV. If I remember correctly the thickness was 1.6 mm (+/-0.1), and the original thermal pad was 2 mm.

    Good luck.

    Hmm....i've been doing some thinking...

Is there any way to get a even higher resolution display into a D630? I have the 1440X900 "High Resolution" display and love it but I could go even higher to fit more on screen.

    Just curious,

    Ricky
