Does anyone subscribed here run windows 7 on a D630 with intel graphics? Does it run stable? Any crashes, drivers have stopped responding, random black screen flashes?

It looks like I will be sending back the unit I bought off ebay as the motherboard is not stable. I am pretty sure that these issues are irregular but losing money on this purchase makes me feel sketchy buying another unit.

I've ran Windows 7 since the beta on my D630 with the Intel graphics with no issues whatsoever. The IGP inside these should have no issues with the Aero user interface.

Have you tried using just the Dell supplied drivers? I've had luck not using them and using the ones direct from Intel (hint: uninstall the graphics driver that dell provided first....) so perhaps a driver swap either to the Dell recommended driver or to the direct from Intel driver is all you need.

Hi. The product I received was this one Newegg.com - CMS Products Data Transfer Kit DTK-25U2, which is no longer carried by newegg.com - too bad :( I've used others in the past with mixed results, this was the best one I've used yet.

I check the manufacturer website (data transfer solution for cloning and migrating new laptop hard drive ) and found they may offer the "BounceBack" software separately, and even provide a free trial to one of the versions...

    WDDM Drivers
    Dell Drivers
Intel Drivers (Range of old -> current)

It's good to hear your system hasn't had any problems. I couldn't get a single driver to be stable ;) Got to eat the shipping/tax and return this back to the seller and find another machine with the same specs to buy.

(My thread on the issue: http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...630-intel-x3100-display-adapter-crashing.html)

I just upgraded from my D630 that was running W7. Although it ran I did randomly get some blue screen errors. I singled them down to the graphics and wireless card. So I went direct to Intel's site for both drivers and after that never had an issue again.

    I miss my D630 :(

Yikes, the seller should definitely make it right. There's no excuse for selling you a defective product.

That said, If you do decide to replace the motherboard yourself, Dell has an excellent service manual for the D630: Documentation

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get to replace your D630. I'm quickly finding that there's not many new systems that resonate with me as well as this one did/does.

Well sadly I do not get much say in the choices my department chooses otherwise I would have got a E6410.

So in that regards I got a E5410 with the i5 processor and all the basic setups. Do not get me wrong I love the machine compared to my D630 but there are just little things I miss. My main reason for ditching the D630 was it just started to lack the power I needed.

Looks like they are going to refund the intial payment and shipping. I will stay pay the shipping back to them and lose my tax but oh well. Not as bad as losing $150 ;)

    Hi All holders D-630 :)

I buy Dell D-630 for working 24/24. Not excessive but all the time.
    Meteo station and webcam capture.
    7250 ( iddle 37*C ), 80GB ( 5400rpm ), 1GB, 4965agn, DVD-RW, 1440x900, BT, Intel Video ( are the best for my request ).
    What I change :
    CPU - to 8100 - iddle 31*C
    HDD - 320GB Fujitsu 5400rpm ( silent and cold )
    Mem - 3GB ( 2 + 1 )
New Cooler - look at the picture - another construction, verry silent and less power.
    Arctic Cooling - MX3
    Docking

    Question :
    - It is possible to change something to make 6200AGN to work ?
    - Easy undervolting this CPU.
    - WWAN Gobi-2000 where I found drivers and software for D630 ?

    Thanks in advance
    and
    Marry Christmas

    Mike

PS. Sorry for my poor English.
