I'm in the process of sending my shoddy-build-quality m1330 back for something else..

Are there any major problems with the D630? I read about washed out screens - is that problem cleared up or is it just people using cleartype/wrong resolution?

I'm debating between the D630 or M2300.. any differences or is it just the vid card drivers?

...and finally.. anyone happen to know when dell is going to release a decent 12.1" laptop (like the m1210)?

As far as I can tell, the washed-out screen is only a problem with GLOSSY displays and it seems to be only limited to vostro/inspiron models.

I can only speak for myself but my D630's screen is clear and very readable. ;)

    Hi all.

    My D630 has been great!

THe one question I have is that mine did not come with Ultimate 64 bit version, but came with a 32 bit disk version. How do I get a 64 bit version and do I pay more? or they will send a copy?

    Best,
    Ilham

I'm fairly certain you have to buy the 64 bit version (instead of the 32 bit version). But for the most part 32 bit will work just as well if not better than 64 bit vista ... really the only time to use 64 bit is if you run programs that need lots of ram.

You can actually legally install the 64bit version as long as you have a valid 32bit key. The hardest part is getting the 64bit install disc (I ordered the anytime upgrade DVD from compusa), and then after install you'll probably have to call Microsoft to get it activated. I plan on installing 64bit Vista Business during my Christmas break, so I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I am confused: do I need to buy a Wireless Card for the D630 in order to be able to enjoy W-Lan? Or is 802.11... already included?

Mine came with 802.11 already installed, but you might have to add it when you order.

That´s weird. Dell´s Shop information tells me:

    "Wireless Connection:

    a) without Wireless Card
    b Dell™ Wireless 1505 802.11a/g/n (draft n)"

    So if I choose a) I won´t have Wlan?!

yeah I had to specify one here in the UK too. Strange that they would think that anyone would not need one nowadays...
