    I couldn't install the latest nvidia official beta driver 179.48 on my Vostro 1700
    again it says its not supported but now it won't actually let me install it
    has anyone else had any luck?

    edit: ignore that i just hadnt rebooted after i completely uninstalled the last driver so my 8600 was missing from device manager i.e. the driver couldn't find the graphics card
    so it has installed fine and seems to work fine now

    as I said before i think this generation of Vostros is fine for the universal nvidia drivers as they are the same as the Inspirons, its just the current and possibly future ones which aren't supported

    Owning a Vostro 1700 for a little over a year now and am extremely satisfied with the gaming performance.
