had mine just over 6 months, have been very happy with it
only thing now which sucks is that the new "official" nVidia drivers aren't compatible with it
hopefully they will add support eventually, other than that - great laptop for all purposes including gaming

Interesting.. well I suppose it can't hurt to try it
but it did say specifically on the nvidia site that Vostros were not supported
maybe its just the current gen ones as as far as I know they are completely different models to the inspirons or anything else, unlike 1700s etc which are basically the same thing as Inspirons and there is no mention of them being incompatible

Install the proper drivers that use the scrolling - basic MS mouse driver doesn't use the scroll areas.

How often does Dell do Vostro coupons? I got a $350 off coupon a few weeks ago that put my WUXGA config at about $850. I should have jumped on it but I didn't and the coupon expired. Here is my current config priced at $913:

    Code:
    PROCESSOR	Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5670 (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
OPERATING SYSTEM	Genuine Windows Vista® Business, Service Pack 1
    PRODUCTIVITY SOFTWARE	No Productivity Software
WARRANTY & SERVICE	1 Year Basic Limited Warranty and 1 Year NBD On-Site Service
LCD PANEL	17.0 in UltraSharp™ Widescreen WUXGA LCD Display w/TrueLife™
MEMORY	2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
OPTICAL DRIVE	8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability, with Roxio Creator
VIDEO CARD	Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
HARD DRIVE	160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor
    WI-FI WIRELESS CARD	Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Internal Card
BLUETOOTH WIRELESS	Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Internal for Windows Vista
WEBCAM	No Webcam, No Digital Camera Microphone Option
FINGERPRINT READER	No UPEK® Fingerprint Reader
How much can I save by holding out for a coupon?
