This may be of interest to people who use their security hardware.

I wonder if this will fix the problems with the fingerprint reader from suspend and what not.

Who knows, it won't install on my E4200 (the original or the replacement). Keeps saying that the USH device can't be found and then it tries to wait 10 seconds before trying again (which, of course, fails).

BTW, I've found that if the FP reader isn't working when resuming, it will start working if you just press enter a couple times (to unsuccessfully log in using a password) first. Don't do this though if your company has a lockout policy for failed login attempts.

I was able to install it. You have to make sure that the TPM is active in the BIOS but is "deactivated". I also used the program in the firmware folder and it seemed to work well.

Dell have also added (15 Nov) a new security driver and an updated security manager software for Dell ControlPoint.

Thanks, I installed it and it seems to work better then before, but I have only had it in use for a few hours. I will post back in a few days with my results.

I upgraded the USH firmware (had to create a freeDOS bootable USB disk, then enable but de-activate TPM in BIOS) then upgraded controlpoint security drivers and control point security app.

So far so good, it seems a bit smoother logging on from suspend (no USB hot unplug/replug sounds when resuming now) time will tell if it's actually more reliable that the previous version - I had to remove that because once in every few resumes the GINA would hang while logging back into windows

    Yes and No!

So far I've not had the system hang on resume like it sometimes did, however I have twice had the system hang on preparing to suspend.

I have also had the system refuse to recognise the fingerprint reader (after resume and after power on), but this is slightly improved as you can now log on with a password when this happens, before it would hang the GINA dialog.

I finally got the USH update to install using the EXE in the firmware folder rather than the UPDATE.bat in the root of the package (thanks hulsmsc).

I have been using this update for the last 24 hours. I am having the same issues as you, but I agree it is better then the drivers/software that shipped with my E6400. It is a step in the right direction, but I hope the get it working correctly soon.
