I don't think the M6400 was advanced enough to support that type of function. Having said that, no one ever tried that from what I can recall. You might be the first person to attempt it. Good luck!

The "mPCie" connector is not wired up in your usual standard fashion. It was made to accommodate a propriety Intel memory that never took off. I have one of these 4GB thingy that's useless in Win10 and sits around looking pretty in my drawers now.

The memory controller for the Core2Duo generation is not easy to work with. Having said that, u can give it a good at overclocking.

 

I'm not talking about an mSata connector. I mean a casual mPCIe connector. In my case I tried to attach an SSD with an onboard SATA controller, so that it should be fine to connect it to mPCIe lines. But even if it works out, I wouldn't be able to boot from it because there's no such option in BIOS.
So I have another idea. I bought a PC CARD<->CF adapter, so that I will be able to boot from a compact flash if possible. Once I try to do that, I will let everybody know here.

 

Does anybody have a pinout LCD connector on the video card?

 

Just ordered schematics for M6400 including its IOL board. Unfortunately, they didn't have IOR board schematics.

Ok, I'm seeing a weird problem with my M6400 which is currently being used as the family computer. I was wondering if anyone else is getting it.

After a recent Windows 10 update, all the Ricoh drivers for the SD/MMC card reader were removed and end up showing as "Base Device", or something along those lines, in Device Manager. I thought it was weird and so when to reinstall the drivers. Everything went ok, no complains from Win10, until I kept getting the dreaded "DPC Watchdog Violation" BSOD.

It starts out by having the system randomly slowing down to a crawl and freeze. It either recovers itself after a delay of several seconds, or more, or freak out and hit the BSOD described above. Logs in Win10 indicate the SSD was in the process of being "removed". I need to look up the logs again to see what was the actual errors.

So after looking up Google about the error I applied the solution proposed, which is basically to reinstall the SATA driver. It did seem to work at first but then I was proven wrong as the BSOD was back! It even gave me a new BSOD where the message was a failure where it cannot recover. I can't remember the exact message.

I tried means and ways to find out what drivers are causing the issue and it hit on me that my last drivers installed were the Ricoh ones. So I uninstalled the devices and deleted the drivers from the system and also cleaned up a bit. No more BSODs! Just that I now have 3 "Base Devices" in Device Manager and I can't use the onboard SD/MMC card reader.

So I dug around Google but did not find anyone with similar problem. I tried to look for any latest drivers but it seems the Dell ones were the latest available. The ones I found that are newer is for the ePCI version. So no luck there.

Anyone with similar issue and how did you resolve it?

 

I'm thinking on selling my Covet now. It has a finger print sensor and (RARE!) Nvidia 5000M
RAM: 16GB (4x4GB Samsung M471B5273CH0-YK0) DDR3 1600MHz. Bought for overclocking.
CPU: quad-core QX9300 2.53GHz
SSD Liteonit LCS-256M6S 2.5 256GB
The docking station is also present.
It has a new LCD screen as the previous one broke. There are some scratches on the body and a little of deformation. The speaker panel was replaced as well, but the left speaker broke again. It seems like speakers cannot live long. Just a couple of months.
I had an idea to upgrade the laptop completely. Improve speakers, overclock FSB to 1333MHz, improve the webcamera and install watercooling tubes. But I found a better option, so I decided to not do that all.

 

Around $270 would be fair I think.

 

M6500 has a worse screen. Only 262 000 colors support. M6400 LCD supports 16 million colors instead

Can you see free space for memory chips on the back side? It could have had 4GB of video memory instead of just 2GB

I have no idea as I've never had ATI. I just replaced FX3700 as it was giving me black screens very often.
