You can install it ( 2 of my 4 dimms are ddr3 1600mhz chips) but it will down clock them too 1066mhz.

 

On which slots?, i've tried but it doesn't work when i install them :/

 

You have to be careful of the make and model of the rams. The M6400 is quite selective about the type of rams with speeds higher than 1066. It seems to prefer Crucial rams and has issues with Corsair ones.

 

I read something about that bou haven't find something like a compatibility list or something like that. Im trying to install Hynix modules but haven't work so far.

 

You will not be able to find any compatibility list anywhere. I've had Corsair 2133MHz rams that the Corsair says will work for the M6800 but turns out to be a dud. Another fellow forum member then tries an untested Kingston HyperX 2133MHz and it works! Kingston doesn't even mention if it is compatible with the M6800.

You will find the same for the M6400. If you intend to go beyond 1066MHz, it is a bit of trial and error plus a stroke of luck. You should ask @GeforcerFX what his 1600MHz rams' make and model is.

 

Took the old M6400 and tried installing an Intel AC 7260 in it. Lo and behold it works in Windows 10!

So I've removed the old bluetooth + UWB card (running Lenovo drivers for the bluetooth which works in Windows 10, nothing works for the UWB). At the same time, I've removed the useless Intel 4GB card used for fast loading of softwares (can't remember the actual term) which doesn't have any drivers for Windows 10.

Much leaner M6400 with updated Bluetooth and wireless AC! Not bad for a simple upgrade. I might let my nephew and niece have it...

Is it possible to boot from a cardbus ssd?
I don't know if the "cardbus NIC" option in the BIOS would let me boot not from the network controller, but from an ssd. Does anybody know anything about it?

 

I've ordered 4x4GB Samsung M471b5273DH0-CK0 1600MHz with SEC memory chips from ebay. Waiting for them now. Will report after checking them.

 

I tried to boot up with mSATA (even though I knew there are no SATA lines in mPCIe connectors) and mPCIe SSDs. Both were not recognized in OS. New devices didn't even appear in device manager. It's strange why the mPCIe SSD wasn't recognized. Maybe I should find and try another one.

 

Sorry guys for the long delay. The RAM I received has SEC chips and works fine. SPD is not write protected, so it can be edited.
I want to overclock FSB up to 1333MHZ. What do you think about it?
