Hmm, I have a problem with Express Card slot. When I tried to push my soundcard in, it seems that those small doors got detached from the spring. Looking at the slot, it doesn't look like taking the laptop apart would help me get to this mechanism because it's closed up. So, I can only hope that I can somehow attach the spring to the door again but I don't see what these small Express Card doors have on the other side which is used to attach the spring onto.

Does anybody have these doors detached or something and can send me a photo of the inner side just to see how can I attach the spring again?

    Thanks a lot.

Please don't say that Kingston is a 'certified for Dell' part...it breaks my heart:cry: . I have bought the 'premium' HyperX Kingstons that are supposed to be a bit quicker than the standard ones (they come with heat sink+with 5-5-5-15 latency timings) and after checking with the technical support (laptop stopped functioning) these timings are incompatible with the M6400. Apparently it can maximum support up to 2x2gb of CL6 and even without stability, systems crashes sometimes. So M6400 users, DO NOT buy expensive memories with lower timings in order to gain more speed by the ram...you will end up like (me:() ...running them with the standard speeds (7-7-7-20) a normal cheap ddr3 memory can run...Well..Why Dell for does NOT mention this ANYWHERE? They should actually work this out in their next Bios release...come on guys!

*Of course if anyone uses the M6400 with low latency sodimm modules (CL5/6) and having no problems...please contact me, I'm all ears!

I did a bunch of M6400 updates including the latest BIOS and since then I've had about 6 blue screen memory dumps. I had none before and system was very stable.

    Anyone else having blue screens?

Anyone know what the cuprit is? BIOS? Vista Ultimate 64-bit update?

    Thanks.

It would help if you told people exactly what "a bunch of m6400 updates" were and if you know which one started the problems after installing? You're a little vague for anything but guesses. I've downloaded all the updates I need and have had no problems, but most of recommended and optional stuff I didn't use. How in the world can anyone know what the culprit is when we don't know the players or a time line of when the problems started. in short, elaborate please.

I am really sorry about this, since our M6400 is supposed to be a "fast one", thus using the fastest parts should be fine.

I decided to go for the Kingston parts, neither the fastest, nor the cheapest, to avoid problems and having a stable platform. It seems that this is what I got (2 weeks only now..).

However your problems should be related to the BIOS, and also probably the fast DDR3 SoDIMMS are not so common right now, because the HyperX parts are supposed (as "premium" price parts) to be better than the standard one, also regarding stability.

I hope with the increasing diffusion of the DDR3 parts the situation will get better.

I know that the 'Bad Pool Caller' BSOD is showing often (is the one you have?)However,if it is not specifying the driver that caused the problem (in the bottom of the blue screen) and its generic then the cause is way too amplified, can be a lot of things.I would have a look at the Dell Control Point..imo its more often a trouble maker than a helper..

Just saw you post. Did try them each one, they are all ok, but the laptop wont boot 'unless' it sees at least one bank with 7-7-7-20 timings. Thus, its a latency incompatibility, not a bad mem.Thank you anyways:)

"You received this message because your universal serial bus (USB) driver has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss."

Looks like it is a USB driver. Device Manager lists 30 ...

Well started playing Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 on my 6400 last night.
    So far no problems :D
    No stuttering or poor fps.
I was hesitant to switch from my desktop to the m6400 because of lower fps (desktop has a gtx295) but no worries at all :D
Both games ran smoothly at 1920x1200. (No AA+AF-I never switch it on for mp games)
