VS + SQL sounds pretty power user to me, unless you're mainly working on web development, where the QX9300 will most likely be overkill. The QX9300 will help in reducing compile times and increasing performance for computationally intensive code. Otherwise, a T9900 is sufficient. The Q9100 is similar in performance to the QX9300 since the latter cannot be overclocked in the Precision, so you're not gaining much (if anything) by paying the premium. I have a Q9100 in my 8730w for development work and it performs wonderfully as a dev machine, coupled with an SSD.

    Refer to 1.

Yes, the 2nd hard drive is useful, especially for a dev machine where a RAID set up will further increase hard drive performance, thus speeding up compile time and database writes. Get an SSD for the primary drive if you are not RAIDing it (or better still, RAID 2xSSDs).

It's fair for an outlet machine, so definitely in the range you should be expecting.

ThanX Barn, but those are not suitable for the mobile series. nVidia latest ones for the Mobile FX Quadros is still the186.81. Now if you wanna blend the 195.55 with the .inf file the Laptopvideo2go uses is another story...

You are 'partially' right :) . They are compatible for the mobile series but not for the XP x32 & x64 OS. For Win7 & Vista they do work.

All depends on what SSDs you are using.
If you're using some of the slower ones the controller is fast enough.
Besides the top end ones are practically at the limit of SATA2 bandwidth and raiding them would give no gain..
Bout time for Hard drives to start catching u pto the rest of the pc hardware :D
