battery life is incredible coming from an aging m6300.

was going to upgrade the ram. anybody used this ?

have got the new modulus caddy http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2nd-SATA...ge_Internal&hash=item5d2f3628ce#ht_7715wt_905 but wont have time to play with it for the next 3 wks. i'm wondering if i can run 3 hds ! msata, +ssd + 1tb hmm ?!

also awaiting on this : msata ssd to replace the wwan card
    Runcore Pro V 6GB mSATAIII 120GB RCP-V-T5028-MC

    Yes you can.:)

I agree with you, the battery life is great, I don't get as long as you do with the same specs, but I got the 87wHr 9 cell because it has a three year warranty, am presuming you got the 97wHr?

That caddy will not work with your M4600 cause it's not flush and leaves part hanging out and it just doesn't look right

    Hi there,

could anyone tell me how much the M4600 throttles down when on battery and if Speedstep is still working then? I can handle the fact that these infernal machines cannot run at the same power level on battery than on AC, but if it was as it is on the W520, well...

Another Question: Someone mentioned that Dell locked the overclocking function. This doesn't mean TurboBoost was not working, does it? It just refers to setting the default clock speed manually higher than its supposed speed, right?

On battery the lowest speed is 800mhz. If set the power plan to balance mode the highest speed still can reach the maximum depends on the load. If set to maximum battery life, speed is 800mhz fixed.

manual overclocking function is locked, factory default overclocking is working normally. This affects only 2920xm.

Why would you be sending back the OCZ drive? According to the results you listed above, the OCZ is a lot faster than the Intel 510?

Not on the Seq Write speeds.

I agree... But isn't it mostly the sequential read / write speed that's used under normal windows use?

No, random read/write speed is more important.
Sequantial read/write is rarely used for OS except for hibernation, that also is not considered as 'frequently used'.
