From what I understand, the M5950 is more for gaming-type use, while the Quadros are for more business use static display: CAD, modeling, 3-D, etc.

Correct, I don't have a need for it, just the standard 1080 which is still quite nice all the same

Thanks, had no problem installing the update. Tried to update the HD3000 driver though and that said that I didn't meet the system requirements. Is that because I don't have Optimus installed so I don't have any use for it anyways?

Thanks for that quick fix. I just updated to A04 BIOS and now the annoying flickering on low display brighness is completely gone. Display brightness is stable now for all brightness levels :))

The only thing to optimize now on this close-to-perfect machine would be a BIOS switch 'NVidea' <-> 'Intel internal graphic only'. This would hopefully help to increasing the running time on battery, even if I'll only have 8bit colour depth on my 10bit IPS display then.

But at least then I'd do have a choice of displaying a wide gamut picture during a shorter system running time
    or
displaying a slightly less optimal picture but therefor for a longer time while running on battery.

Yes, that's it ! as for IPS panel owner's Optimus is not enabled, if u look to the device manager in win7, it won't even see the HD3000 as an unknown device, as the graphic chipset might have been hardware disabled....

SO I doubt it could be activated only w/ a new BIOS, unfortunately...:(

    Hi,

Can anyone post a screenshot of his desktop with the FHD screen ?
Is this comfortable to browse/read ?

Can anyone who has the Nvidia Quadro 1000M config post the 3DMark vantage/06 results ?

    Thanks.

My Dell rep told me 2x Blu-ray Drive can't be used for DVD/CD burning. Is it true?

The screen bezel has to be plastic to allow the wifi to work :)

Whenever my M6600 finally arrives I will let you know if the palmrest is aluminum or plastic.
