eBay or NewModeUS. Not sure how the fit is but I'm sure some users here can chip in and help you out.

    Does Dell have this function?

the body is made of magnesium alloy and aluminium alloy, the palmrest is aluminium IIRC it also has that cold metal feel.

the screen bezel is plastic, but unless you touch it you wouldnt know as the finish is identical to the rest of the unit

Sorry but I've to disagree : the palmrest, like the screen bezel is also made of plastic, good quality, but plastic, not aluminium at all !

So if there is no price difference and more important no difference in Battery drain go with a AMD 5950M oder Nivida Quadro M1000??? For a regular user (everything of anything)
By the way, I couldn't even find an TDP for the AMD M5950; TDP for the Nvidia is 45W

    Thanks,
    Tom

To owners with the IPS panel: are you happy with any flickering at mid/low brightness levels?

I've just had the fourth onsite visit, had display, motherboard, GPU and back cover/cable changed, and still the low-frequency flickering persisted. Even tried swapping the RGB for the WLED panel, but there seems to be a compatibility problem (i.e. no display output!). There was also some pink/green colouration in the corner of the IPS panel.

So should I hold out for an RGB replacement (not currently listed here in the UK), or do all RGB units flicker?

Related discussion for the Studio XPS RGB backlight: here.

For those with an IPS panel Dell has just released a new A04 BIOS that addresses a possible flicker.

I sat outside on the deck last night to test the battery life just surfing on wifi 6300n, I got 5 hours at min screen brightness and the meter still said 20% left.
The screen brightness at minimum is still pretty bright for dimly lit area's.
This is with i7-2720, Q2000m, mSata 80GB and seagate XT.
I think the battery run time is pretty darned great, this is also an 87whr 9 cell with the three year warranty

Nice, I'm guessing you don't have the IPS screen?
