Simply because I need efficiency and reactivity principaly for Video and 3d apps, and I can't install both PRO and games apps on the SSD because of the space limitation...;)
Plus I prefer having a clean system on the PRO partition without experimenting having exotics programs like games or others creating issues or degrading performances on it.

There are a few options on how many displays you can have running. With AMD GFX you can do 3 max: 3 external plugged into DP, VGA, HDMI OR 2 external and the internal. WIth a dock you can do a max of 5.
With NVIDIA GFX and Optimus you can do 3 max same as above but 2 will be running from NVIDIA GPU and 1 from Intel GPU. With a dock and Optimus you can do a max of 4, 2 from the NV GPU and 2 from the Intel GPU.

    Hello,

I have a M4400 with the P9700/FX1700M/RGBLED and I'm really happy, although my battery is quite old and I'm getting about 2:30-3:00 hours from its 56whr on with WIFI On and normal usage. I'm sure that the new Sandy Bridge and the new NVIDIA 2000M are going to give me more performance and more battery, but what about the IPS panel? It seems that if you want Optimus you cannot have the IPS 10bit panel. How would the battery life with and without Optimus compare to my M4400? and what about the panel? I really love the 105% Adobe Gamut RGBLED, and it seems that the IPS panel is also RGBLED and has better view angles, but what about the WLED (needed for Optimus)? Lot of questions, but I really like my M4400, although Sandry Bridge is really calling me (and those 180 less lines are not so wonderfull... I use my notebook for other things that viewing 1080p content)

    Regards,

    Synthetic benchmark M5950.
    3DM 2006 = 11403 default setting.

    3DM vantage = 6647 default setting.

    FF14 bench = 2599 low res.

Furmark 1280 x 720 = 18fps. pic is not clear because notebookreview limited maximum res to 1024x768 only.

    Hello,

Does anyone know if the M4600 is compatible with a Slim AC Adapter, e.g. Dell's 90W Slim AC Adapter.

I know that the less power you have the slower the batter charges, but is the M4600 able to run with only 90W?

The Adapter detailed in the tech specs section and pictured on this site seems a bit too large for a traveler to always carry it.

    Thank you.

If the power adapter is too low, the notebook will still run but at reduced clock speed. You will find it running real slow because the processor will be running at slowest speed. things like dvd burning may not be able to be carried out. 3D Game will not run. Not even able to browse internet smoothly. 90W is too low.

Ok, regardless of which solution I pick, I can do three externals with the Advanced Eport?

I want to use Ubuntu as my main OS. Can anyone give an Advice if I should pick the AMD or the Nvidia?

    Thx pan
